“I thought the Wells report went too easy on Philbin, saying he was unaware of the plight of Jonathan Martin, an unidentified player and an assistant trainer, all of whom were being harassed,” SI’s Peter King wrote in his Monday Morning Quarterback column today.

“How can Philbin have been in that building 15 hours a day, at least, and not known anything?" King said. "And how can Wells accept that this was a fine job by Philbin, and he was some sort of Boy Scout troop leader promoting wonderful citizenship? I do understand he asked Jim Turner about what was going on with his players, and Turner told him everything was fine. But what caused Philbin to ask Turner?

"Obviously his antennae were up. Philbin, whom I find to be a good man, still should know better, and this had better be a very good lesson for him, or his time in the head coach’s chair is going to be short.”

Then there was this from ESPN’s Mark Schlereth: “I’m left with this conclusion about the Dolphins organization from the coaching staff on down: They were either complicit, incompetent or both.”

Those are all legit questions. I don't expect Philbin to answer any of them.

Maybe it was because things like this weren't done or said when he was around. He has to count on his assistant coaches to keep him in the loop and if they are covering up dirt for him, the player doesn't go to him, and these actions don't take place when he is there then how would he know? I don't understand how the national media ate this crap up so easily. This crap that was in the report happens in every locker room in the country.......not even sure this should be news at all.

Well, the unidentified player has since said that he had no problem with the Dolphins or even Jim Turner.

I suppose I'll take Schlerith a little more seriously since he's an ex player.

Really, in the end this would have been much ado about nothing if Incognito were not involved. The guy had a ton of baggage already, and a lot of players didn't like him bullying or no bullying.

Surely he must explain more than this...

Typical Philbin, lack of charisma and all. He should have stayed as an O-line coach, doesn't know how to run the ship well.

The other big question in this is what did Mike Sherman know? Yes, Sherman is gone. However, he is the missing link between Turner and Philbin. Sherman was close to both. He even brought Turner with him (and Zac Taylor and Ryan Tannehill) on the train from College Station.
I don't know if Sherman was interviewed by Ted Wells or if he skipped the country and has joined a mariachi band somewhere in Mexico, but if people are questioning what Philbin knew and didn't know, the key is getting to Sherman.

I remember Sherm proclaiming he would talk about everything once the investigation was over. Let's go Mike.

I have killed Joe for a lot of things since his hire and gave him **** post report much like these comments nationally. I have cooled out some over the past few days, however.

Where Joe dropped the ball in this situation is he did not have enough people below him….trainers, captains, low level assistant coaches…tied in with the team getting him the needed information about his team. Therefore, Joe is too far removed from his team.

I think Joe is a good person and would never allow any player to be hating life on his team if he knew better…the problem is he never had the conduits in place to do that for him…or if he did, the conduits let him down.

Sherman's perspective would be kind of interesting. If you remember Hard Knocks, he publicly humiliated Egnew to the point that he almost burst out crying. That could have just as easily been labelled a bullying incident, had there been no cameras.
