Sports Buzz- Pats asked Thigpen for hand signals/ More Harbaugh talk

Why do you think John Harbaugh is going to bolt, Walrus?

Not getting up in your grill, just honestly curious what you're basing that on.

The Ray Rice situation. Wanting to get cut Rice, getting overruled, then being forced to lie about wanting him gone... and then seeing the wanton lying by his owner and the commissioner over the whole situation. I can see the disgust on his face every time he talks about it. I have no inside info on it, it's adds up is all.

Michigan is said to have him as one of their top choices, if not their top choice. I don't think that's a coincidence. I think we all know how these negotiations really play out, how early they start.

As I there were rumblings last year about John feeling underappreciated in Baltimore.

I will respectfully disagree with your assessment of Rex Ryan, and I have to admit I would love to see him go to Baltimore.
Why?
It is the perfect scientific experiment.

We could make a $1 bet.
Take a less successful coach and put him in a great regime.
Ideally John Harbaugh would go to the Jets.

See who is more successful in the short and long runs.

Yes, I forgot that Tannehill is already proven to be a hall of fame inductee in waiting, how silly of me. One has a career high of 78 passer rating and the other 81, myswell be a Dan Marino vs Cleo Lemon comparison. And in the playoffs Sanchez has a 94 passer rating, that is actually really good. Dalton on the other hand averages 54 passer rating in the playoffs. One is a gamer, one is not.

Classic example of taking a statistic in a vacuum & drawing a conclusion from it. In Sanchez's 4 playoff wins he had 182, 100, 189, & 194 yds passing. Two games he had a passer rating in the 100s and 2 games in the 60s. In 2009 the jets had the #1 defense and rushing game, in 2010 #3 for both. Sanchez saw 8 man fronts every time he dropped back to pass and had very little responsibility placed on him. In later years when the run game declined and more of the offense went through him, he failed. He never had as high a percent of the offense go through him as Tanny had last year and I'll guess as much as dalton although I haven't looked at the dalton numbers.

I would rather keep Joe for another year and his staff than have Mike Tannenbaum help with a coaching search.

I would guess a very small percentage of starting NFL QBs have 3 playoff games with 100+ rating. He actually has 4 playoff games 90+ rating and 2 poor games, that is very good QB play in the playoffs. His overall stats in the playoffs are very similar to Russell Wilson's.

If you want to correlate individual quarterback success to team success, then Mark Sanchez is right smack next to Joey Harrington and Blaine Gabbert in the numbers that matter the most. He literally gave his team less of a chance to win than journeymen like Shaun Hill and Ryan Fitzpatrick. And they still carried his bum ass to a couple of championship games.

Let's not lionize the Sanchize.

The dude sucked.

I agree but for whatever reason he ran hot in the playoffs. He's actually 6th all time in passer rating. I bet I could have won a lot of money on that piece of trivia.

:idk: He had a few good games, statistically. He is still a garbage quarterback. His career body of work bears that out pretty strongly. On the model I've been playing with lately, he and Geno are both so far below the curve that it's quite frankly incredible that the Jets have had any success at all during the Rex Ryan era. They should have averaged about 4 wins a season with Sanchez. (And since I know you love Joe Philbin, that's also about how many wins we should have had in 2012 with how Ryan Tannehill played as a rookie.)

Mark Buttfumble will never be remembered for any PO success - he certainly won't be "remembered" for anything but the extraordinary fumble

Michigan's top 2 choices if/when Brady Hoke is fired are the Harbaughs. Jim gets the most attention being one of the most popular players in Michigan history but John (despite not going to Michigan) loves the school just as much, if not more, than his brother. John did contact school officials when Rodriguez was fired but was given a brand new huge contract. with Baltimore. But those close to the situation have said that even with a new contract after that and winning the Super Bowl, John feels like the organization doesn't appreciate him. If Michigan contacts him he'll listen.

Jim's interested too, but the wife is a harder sell for him than it is for John.
