You simply cannot compare Crowder to Urlacher......

Both are extremely athletic and good tacklers. Both were projected as MIKE's, but due to present rosters, played at SAM's because of their talent.
How are they different?

Regardless, many players fit that profile........that's pretty standard to say someone's athletic and a good tackler.........again look at where they were drafted and depending on the position drafted players play in, it can determine how much they're expected to contribute. In this case Urlacher was drafted 9th overall. Not to mention Urlacher didn't have the rap-sheet Crowder has, nor the health concerns.

mattgilm said:Is he really better than Greenwood? I hope he is because I am not sure Moore is so great, Pope and Jenkins have shown more potential than Moore, possibly because of Moores injury prone NFL career. I know that they all play different backup positions, but they were all drafted for their versitility and ability to find the ball. Spragan is big and fast but is he consistant? The Broncos dumped him for some reasons besides money? Crowder could be the Dolphins X factor if injurys occure at LB(Seau?), and he stays healthy with those bionic knees of his. Go Fins................ PS, Seau is great and is a true football pro player with alot of class.
I think Junior will excel this year... and I also think that this will not be his last year.LarryFinFan said:Spraghan is a little better than Greenwood. Greenwood was serviceable, but not spectacular. Spraghan is serviceable but will make a few more plays on the outside than Greenwood did. Moore is small and fast, like Wanny wanted his LBers and does not fit into the style of LB that Saban likes. He'll struggle playing OLB in Saban's style of D. I look to see him still in a backup role when all is said and done. He would have done better as a MLB or OLB in the JJ/Wanny defense. BTW, I wouldn't call him injury prone. He had a serious injury his first season, but was reasonably healthy last year. Jenkins is, at best, a good STer.
Crowder is the X factor for our LBers this year. If he develops into the beast that he was in college quickly, he'll be the OLB spelling (and eventually taking more and more time away from Jr) Seau. If he takes longer to develop...it could be a longer year for us. Seau was a great LB and is suited to playing the role Saban wants him to, but could be somewhat fragile and has lost a step. The good thing is that in Saban's D, he doesn't have to be "fast", and can use his experience to overcome the lost step.
My question is how will Zach fare this year. He is a great MLB in the JJ/Wanny D, but not suited to the Bruschi role with Saban. He'll get lost in the flow. Saban wants his LBers to move up and take on bigger linemen, TEs and FBs. Kevin Maewae (sp) has proven that Zach can be had in that role. Saban is, however, great at adjusting his style of D to his players and adjusting his D to the particular mode in which it is being attacked by opposing teams. Hopefully will devise a scheme that takes advantage of Zach's ability while still getting the additional pressure on the OL, backs, and QB that Saban desires.
enigmatics said:He sucked? Excuse me, but I missed that part of his career with the Dolphins. The man was solid all the way around.
Came to work everyday, blue collar all the way. In fact when Zach went out with an assortment of injuries the past two seasons, Morlon stepped in admirably and that's exactly how he earned his payday with the Texans.
Give the man credit where credit's due...........sucked? Maybe your evaluation of the man does, but Morlon Greenwood certainly doesn't suck.
BLITZKRIEG said:Greenwood was about as mediocre as you can get. Solid???....Solid at being mediocre...
When did Greenwood ever play MLB???....Last year it was Pope who filled in for Zach. I don't recall Greenwood ever playing MLB, and if he did, he must not have done very much beacuse I can't remember....
The Texans were robbed by Greenwood and his agent. His contract is ridiculously overpriced....
He sucks, and after you see his replacement racking up tackles, and sacks, you'll understand why we're happy he's gone....
PHINZ RULE!!!!
