Stan Van Gundy To Coach Magic!

"Stan enjoyed tremendous success during his tenure with the Heat," general manager Otis Smith said in a statement on the Magic's Web site. "He has a great basketball mind, tremendous respect around the league and will get the most out of our players. Stan was sought after by many teams this summer and we feel very proud to welcome him to the Magic family."

Van Gundy was under contract with the Heat for another year, and the Magic had to give Miami undisclosed compensation.

I'm happy for the Magic. Stan didn't stand much of a chance with the personalities that were brought into Miami, but he should do very well with the Magic. Hopefully, those 200 new season ticket holders will still be happy with their purchase.

Stan Van Gundy has always sucked and will always suck. He is a "nervous nelly" that freaks out at a whim.

Horrible hire.. Good luck though.

Seriously, not being biased at all. I don't like SVG very much as a head coach.

Didn't while he was our's, actually. I screamed for the return of Riles.

Seriously though, what I said is my honest belief. However, I wish the Orlando Magic the absolute best possible luck. They are a Florida team, and Dwight Howard has become one of my favorites in this league. SVG is actually a very nice guy, just don't like his coaching ability too much. Good luck, though.

Please.. get exactly pick #15 next year so we can swap. :wink:

Oh I don't doubt that you believe that.
I think there are more Heat fans that feel the opposite way though.

There really isn't.

SVG has to be the only guy in history that had people calling for him to be fired after he won 59 games.

Nail meet head. Head meet nail. The best hire, as much as he would've bailed out in 3 years, would've been Larry Brown.
