I disagree that Tua is playing as well as Fitz. Tua's stats looked okay (for a rookie) pre-Denver because he was given short fields by the defense and special teams, the o-line was semi-competent at pass-blocking and had not yet regressed, and defenses didn't know what to expect from him and probably played it somewhat safe. I've read opinions from posters who follow college football saying that Tua wasn't so great under pressure. I don't know if that was true or not in college, but when Denver turned up the heat Tua made poor decisions and missed a lot of throws. Fitz took over, and gained more yards in two drives than Tua did in a little more than three quarters. I get it; Fitz is a veteran and Tua is a rookie, but now every defense knows to go after Tua if he's playing.
Yesterday, Miami beat the Jets with Fitz at QB. However, just because the Jets are winless doesn't mean that they were a pushover; their defense went after Fitz. Usually, Fitz beats the pressure by making quick decisions, and when he decides to run he doesn't hesitate. But, those pesky Jets defenders were able to sack Fitz several times, and they held his running yards to a minimum. Now, if a seasoned vet like Fitz was affected by that Jets defense, Tua would've looked like a deer in the headlights. My very first impression of Tua when he made his first start was that he was a boy among men, and I don't think that he'll succeed without a big strong o-line and a powerful running game.
