To satisfy Finheaven posters. Hoops almost threatened Flores not to play games with hiding Tua's injuries.
He did too.....

Freakin hilarious post brother. One of those things you "had to be there" in the heat of the moment......lol

I think Fitz should start to let Tua rest to get healthy. Once Tua gets healthy, Fitz should continue to play until he stinks it up. I want both of my QB's on a short leash.

That will help Tua focus on developing and will keep a fire under Ryan Fitzpatrick to not have a 3 interception game like he has in the past.
They need start Tua. See what they got going forward. If Tua ain't playing good, I guess pull him out and bring in relieved qb...Fitzpatrick is mat moore type qb. This team is going be load in next 2yr..qb spot is key to dolphins being top team in afc..if dolphins make playoff. They probably going get beat down in round one of playoff.. tenn,kc pit.. that first rd match up..just being real..if we do make playoff..it still good yr for development

If he's all healed up and throwing the ball 100% you start Tua. The Bengals, without Burrow, should be held to very few points by our defense. Tua needs to have success and build on it to gain confidence. Let's put together a nice game plan where the ball is out fast and we mix in some runs and take some shots when they present themselves. I expect Tua to step up his game, pre season's over.

At this point you go with Tua unless he’s not healthy. Fitz moved the offense decently well yesterday, but it was also the Jets. If you pick your franchise QB and then elect to start him halfway through the season it’s not real beneficial to put him back on the bench after one bad performance.

I'd rather rip the band aid off and find out what we have in Tua quickly and i believe even at this point he is playing as well as Fitzpatrick so i'd rather take a gamble to see what we got rather then not put the chips on the table.
I disagree that Tua is playing as well as Fitz. Tua's stats looked okay (for a rookie) pre-Denver because he was given short fields by the defense and special teams, the o-line was semi-competent at pass-blocking and had not yet regressed, and defenses didn't know what to expect from him and probably played it somewhat safe. I've read opinions from posters who follow college football saying that Tua wasn't so great under pressure. I don't know if that was true or not in college, but when Denver turned up the heat Tua made poor decisions and missed a lot of throws. Fitz took over, and gained more yards in two drives than Tua did in a little more than three quarters. I get it; Fitz is a veteran and Tua is a rookie, but now every defense knows to go after Tua if he's playing.

Yesterday, Miami beat the Jets with Fitz at QB. However, just because the Jets are winless doesn't mean that they were a pushover; their defense went after Fitz. Usually, Fitz beats the pressure by making quick decisions, and when he decides to run he doesn't hesitate. But, those pesky Jets defenders were able to sack Fitz several times, and they held his running yards to a minimum. Now, if a seasoned vet like Fitz was affected by that Jets defense, Tua would've looked like a deer in the headlights. My very first impression of Tua when he made his first start was that he was a boy among men, and I don't think that he'll succeed without a big strong o-line and a powerful running game.

It seems to me that people take Tua's performance against Denver and act as if that's how he's played every game. No. He had a **** game against Denver, but otherwise has played just as well as Fitz.

In Fitz's 16 or 18 or whatever seasons it is for him, he has not once led a team to the playoffs. Is this Miami team so good that it can overcome that stat? So this play Fitz to win now and play Tua for the future is a flawed argument. The only way we make the playoffs is for Tua to play. Obviously he needs to play a lot better than he has.

I don't think either is true. We'd get in with either.

Check out that game for the Jets in the last week where he choked away a playoff berth. He will blow up for us like he's done every time before. If you don't know your history, you are doomed to repeat it.

I get it, but I have a feeling we'll be locked in before the last game of the year. I also feel like Flo will pull either QB if they're choking our playoff birth away.

Flores already said tua is starting if healthy.

About jets game they match up well against us. Always have.

We have no running game and the oline is struggling.

We will struggle against better teams because we have too many holes.

Im just happy we beat jets 20 to 3.

But at some point in time yesterday i was worried we were going to lose against jets.

Everything turned out good though.

The jests stink and their annoying fans are nowhere to be found.

Go phins

Just be thankfull.

You believe this even though the coach clearly stated otherwise?
Yes. The words “if he’s healthy” are a Get out of jail free card for him. He decides when Tua is healthy, and has already said if there is ANY affect from the thumb, Tua will not play. That honestly leaves things wide open. We already started hearing Tua could be out multiple weeks, anyway.

If Tua sits this week and Fitz plays well, I can easily see him having Fitz start until he flounders. I think Flores showed that he is about playoffs right now when he benched Tua against Denver. That would be a huge gold star on his resume and I no longer feel he is willing to chance it just to evaluate the rookie further.

We've made the commitment to use this season to get Tua up to speed. If he's healthy he starts--Coach Flo has already made that clear. But, if he's doing poorly and can't help the team, he'll be pulled for Fitz. Most of us lauded this process when the QB in question was Rosen, and continue to back this system when the QB in question is Tua. The team is willing to let Tua take his lumps and learn--because he's a good prospect. But sometimes young guys get into a downward spiral and aren't helping the team. The rest of this team wants to win, and we can't push Tua out there when all it's doing is crushing his confidence and making the team lose faith in him. But he's given another chance, and as long as he's progressing and not completely crippling the team, we can sacrifice this season a bit to allow Tua to gain the experience he needs.

Fitz is being given a fair shake. When Tua is bad, Fitz comes in. If Fitz plays lights out, he always has a chance to win the job--but he needs to be head and shoulders better than Tua ... and Fitz knew that coming into this season. The keys have been given to Tua. Fitz shouldn't be hoping for more than the role he's got now.

But if you're asking me who "should" start, I think that depends on the team's goals. If the goal is to get Tua ready for this young crew to compete in 2021 and beyond, then the answer is Tua. I believe that is our goal.

If you're asking who deserves to start ... we need to first determine if Tua is healthy, and then given what we've seen so far, we score more points with Fitzmagic. Sorry, but that's what the data shows. Tua gets no credit for the defensive touchdowns or the special teams touchdowns. Tua hasn't produced many points compared to Fitz. Where Tua has shown well has been in avoiding mistakes. Has Tua "earned" the starting nod ... no, probably not. But that's not what this season is about. This season is about preparing this team for 2021 and beyond, and by that metric the team will bend over backwards to get Tua the experience he needs to blossom. It's an investment with a high reward down the road that Fitz's real-time productivity does not offer. Simple math ... we're a rebuilding team, so, we rebuild and invest in the future.
