Miller is a good back but a fingernail will bring him down. Our power run game is doing us wonders. Ajayi's tackle breaking ability has literally been the difference for some our of wins and losses.

Obviously Ajayi has done great, so now I'm happy with him. I see no reason to knock Miller though. He's a big reason why a team that has had a passing game among the bottom of the league still has a good record and shot at the playoffs. I wouldn't trade Ajayi for Miller right now, but I definitely don't look at Miller's steady production in Houston and think "man, so happy we don't have that guy anymore."

Miller isn't a powerback and while fingernails could bring him down, he seemed to do a pretty darn good job of not letting guys get fingernails on him. Ajayi has cuts in his arsenal that Miller doesn't have, but I don't think I've seen any back find seams and get to the second level faster or at a higher rate than Miller.

Ajai is a more powerful runner and we saw that on a couple nice runs he had last year. Miller doesn't break contact like Ajai but he is an effective back in his own right and a bit better of a pass catcher. Let's not forget how well he improved as a pass blocker too. I would be thrilled to have had both. Unlike OV, keeping Miller was doable. Having said that, I wonder if Ajai would have come into his own like this if Miller was still here?
That's hard to say but in a way I almost imagine Ajayi having a better shot at playing time earlier in the year behind an established starter for a coach that has typically utilized two backs than as a guy in a true RBBC for an offense that five games into the season was a virtual joke. The way this backfield was being managed I consider it almost a stroke of luck that after all the rotating every series and Arian Foster infatuation that Ajayi was given a shot to be a feature back and was historically effective.
interesting take. You may be right in that we likely would have just really played those 2 guys and wouldn't have signed Foster. We'll never know I guess, but I could see Ajai/Miller doing a Anderson/Hillman type act and would have been good w that.

Enough BS. Losing some of our best young talent is NEVER a good thing...
RB tandems aren't exactly a new thing, they are as old as the NFL. Hell, the Phins themselves had one of the all time best in Csonka, Morris, and Kiick.
If Miller would have kept Ajayi from coming into his own, then Ajayi is not as good as we all think.

Disagree big time. Miller stays he steals the majority of camp reps, practice reps, game reps being the solid Dolphins veteran he proved to be. We wouldn't have seen this Ajayi and he IS clearly as good as we all think. Miller taking a majority of the reps doesn't all the sudden make Ayaji subpar.... Period.

How long will people continue to under appreciate Damien Williams? His 4.45 time isn't as fast as Millers 4.40 but does that really make a difference? Are we hurting that we didn't overpay for a complimentary RB? Seems like we are getting a heck of a lot more value out if our after thought backup than the Texans are getting for their star free agent signing.
Miller has 216 touches and 4 tds vs Damien's 35 touches and 5 tds.
It boggles my mind how easily overlooked he is around here and sadly Gase seemed to have forgotten him this past week and our offense suffered for it but I have a feeling he won't make that mistake again and will get the ball to his big play magnet.

But you think Ajayi got those valuable reps with Arian Foster, Kenyan Drake, Isaiah Pead, Daniel Thomas and Damien Williams in camp along with the ludicrous rotation of instability at the position that began the season. :sidelol:

No it was even worse because we have all these guys now in the rotation because we didn't retain Miller so we didn't know what we had. We are lucky we gave Ajayi the chance and he proved it out there on the field. Period.

I dig Williams, always have. But comparing the TD production b/w Osweiller/O'Brien and their capability to continue drives to that of Tannehill/Gase in terms as it relates to the running game in the redzone is a malfunction in analysis.

He didn't forget about him. Williams didn't show up. Dropped a huge pass to him in the beginning of the game. Missed on several blocks for the QB. He didn't have a good game.

I look at Miller and say I am so happy we don't have that guy anymore. Not because I think he is not a good back but because we never would have found out how good Ajayi is. He is the kind of back that needs to be fed the ball over and over until he wears the defense out. The fact he breaks tackles the way he does makes the defense put 8 or more guys in the box. Miller will not wear down a defense like Ajayi does and teams wouldn't be stacking the box like they are.
