STOP Bashing Randy Mueller!

I told you I was hunting wolverines in Alaska with my Uncle.

Yes, like 50 of em...they kept trying to attack my cousins, what the heck would you do in a situation like that? LOL

I like this move. As I said in another post, It stinks of underhanded sneaky dealing as Saban had him tagged before firing Rick. But Muller can get the job done. Heck, he was GM of the year in 2000. Nobody really even knows why he was even fired (most of what I have heard is owner is crazy and fired him on a gut reaction to something). Plus, he has still been involved evaluating players, for ESPN, so he was still working in the system. I like this move and he will do will in Miami.

This guys gonna run over who?!?!?!:rofl3:

Would this be a pic of him running at you? or away from you?

Randy Mueller is an EXCELLENT, TOP 5 TALENT in the NFL when it comes to talent evaluation, making decisions for long term success, and doing what's right for the ball club.

Now, the reason he was fired in New Orleans was because he pulled a few shady moves OUT of the front office, (it was New Orleans. What happens in N.O. stays in N.O.)

Tom Benson is an idiot and fired him for political reasons. He did not like Mueller's shrude attitude and they did not blend together well.

We should all be happy that we have two unreal, absolutely great decision makers and talent evaluators running our team in Saban and Mueller.

DolphinDevil, take a look at Mueller's free agent signings in 2001 and 2002, then come back and tell me the man is a top five talent evaluator.

I think some of those players may have not panned out because of the horrid coaching staff the Saints had/have.
(...and I like the Saints, I'm not bashing them.)

This is definitely not the case in Miami. The coaching staff here is awesome. They will get the most out of the players they bring in.

Besides, Mueller doesn't have the final say. Saban does.

Hey this should be good news...we got spielmans replacement in Randy and he is a decent GM...whats with all the pessimism...you dont even really know who muelller is yet or how he and saban will click...just give the guy a shot before you say anymore negative
things please because its killing my hopes for this teams future...we're stuck with him so deal with it...besides he seemed really respectful to Saban, Wayne and the Team at the press conference...before you bash him let him make his first move...Gosh...Frickin idiot!

Hey, Take a Chill-Pill...

There are questions about Mueller....why exactly did he get fired in NO after getting the Exec of the year award ?? Have you heard him on ESPN...he's quick to criticize everyone's moves....very well known to be arrogant and is a power-monger...

Now, I still like the move by Saban...IMO, Saban hired him so that he can use Mueller's current NFL exec expertise to get back into the best way to run an NFL front office himself. He is known as a good talent evaluator and "diamond in the rough" finder...but he could very well clash with Saban, especially after a successful season or two.

I too am extremely shocked by this move, that is not to say however, that i'm disappointed, it just surprises me, knowing the type of GM that Randy has been. But, obviously he and Nick have sat down and discussed things and if Nick feels comfortable with what was said, then i'm going to trust his judgement. You can NOT dispute that Randy has made some very very good moves, trades, and aquisitions in the past. The thing that surprised me is that he has written at least 3 negative articles about the Dolphins over the past year or so.. so why come here if he felt that way? Welcome Randy, I think the GM switch is a definate upgrade!

I thought it was because Benson is a cheap _ _ _ _ SOB

That could well be, but it doesn't explain everything. Fact is, many of Mueller's signings were simply bad. Dale Carter wasn't ruined by our coaching staff; he was a cancer in Denver, and he was cancer as a Saint. Grady Jackson was fat in Oakland, and was fat in New Orleans. He's fat in Green Bay. Albert Connell was a mental case in Washington; he was a mental case in New Orleans. David Sloan couldn't catch while in Detroit; he couldn't catch in New Orleans. Victor Riley was a talented but unfocused and lazy SOB in Kansas City; he was the same in New Orleans.

Get the trend?

Besides, Mueller doesn't have the final say. Saban does.

And therein lies another potential disaster, just waiting to explode in your face. Randy Mueller got into a power struggle with Saints Administration Director Arnold Fielkow---Benson's "right-hand man" for all intents and purposes. Don't tell me Fielkow instigated the brawl...he had no interest in power on the football side of the operation then, and has none now. He has nothing to do with football operations. Mueller, on the other hand, apparently wanted more power than he'd been granted as General Manager. He was not satisfied by being head of football operations; he wanted to be the Man. Period.

Fielkow isn't popular in New Orleans; Mueller was. The media hates Fielkow; it loved Mueller. When Mueller lost the power struggle (and when other events such as those I've mentioned came to light), he still won the PR battle.

So basically, I don't think he'll be happy working "under" Nick Saban. Both men are intense competitors and are micromanagers. Within three years, there will be a power struggle in Miami, and one of those two will be moving on. Bank on it.

That's correct. I'm not claiming him invincible just because he was hired by the Fins. I just think that some on here are over-analyzing this thing. It was a good hire.

We could have reincarnated the spirit of Vince Lombardi to run the front office, and there STILL would have detractors claiming hes the wrong guy.

As others have said, there are no consesnus's on message boards.
