**Super Thread** Clowney/Tunsil Trade Rumor (merged too many times)

I've been trying hard to avoid this mega-thread, but I can't do it.

If we want to rebuild, we need a new young QB (which may or may not be Josh Rosen, that is still to be determined). To build around that young QB, we need a LT, and those are notoriously hard to find. We have one. If we're serious about rebuilding, we DO NOT TRADE TUNSIL.

Sure, everyone has their price, and if they give us Clowney + four 1st rounders, we can't say no to that. But, expecting to trade a proven LT with HoF potential with a rookie projection just because he's a 1st rounder isn't wise. We're trying to build a winning TEAM here … this isn't Madden. Stockpiling draft picks should absolutely be the goal … but our team had 2 foundational players--Howard and Tunsil--and we would be foolish to trade either one.

Absent a Herschel Walker type trade offer, I wouldn't trade Tunsil. Clowney--at best--is an elite upside guy who hasn't proven himself to be a reliably productive pass rusher, but will command top shelf money regardless of production. He's not a young Suggs, who produced every year. Clowney is drool-worthy potential, with muted production. I wouldn't trade the sun and moon for that, and even if you get him, the salary cap cost will be outrageous.

We need edge rushers, and those are hard to obtain ... but I wouldn't waste an equally important position (LT) for a projection with an injury history at edge rusher (DE/OLB Clowney).

Seems pretty basic. Just hope that Grier & Co. haven't caught Madden-Fever and get seduced by the draft picks. Eventually, you're building a team, and that LT piece is very hard to come by.

Clowney is 1 of 4 players in the NFL with 20 sacks and 50 TFL since 2015. Man is a top tier edge talent and has only missed 3 games in 3 years.

If he's a throw in with 2 first round picks you accept and laugh your ass off that Houston gave you that kind of talent as a "throw in"

Spot on !!!

What if Houston offered their rookie LT and Clowney among with 2 x high draft picks for Tunsil and Drake? Would be hard to say no

We could trade a draft pick for Williams and draft a replacement

Does anyone know if a trade involving Clowney and not Tunsil is a possibility?

Miami would prefer not to trade Tunsil and view him as a big part of the rebuild. But hypothetically if the Texans are willing to give up 2 high draft picks and 2 defenders who are 26, and both have pro bowls and all pro selections in their record Miami would be receptive

Houston is gonna trade Clowney and two #1s just for jj watt to tear his acl in week 4 and then lose by 20 to NE in the wildcard

I would rather their rookie LT then an extra defender unless of course we traded Alonso for that extra defender
