Talk about thread

Well I figured I'd give a rundown of my team. I didn't try to create my own team, but build on the players the Browns had on their roster.

Offense-
I had a glaring need at quarterback, and I think I adressed that with Hassleback. I was thinking that this team would have a wide open offense with the speed it has so I ran with that. Davis and Northcutt are both small, blazing recievers with lots of athletic ablility. I think for them to truley shine a big physical reciever needed to be present to really open things up for them. I couldn't get one with my first pick, but I think I found and anwser to that with Vincent Jackson. I'm confident in Lee Suggs as a starter and think Fason will complement him very nicely. I feel I improved the O-Line from one of the leauges worst to one of its best. Every player on there is solid at least, with well above average players in Flanagan and Samuels and rising star Faine. Since Winslow is out this season Andre King will get more PT and he should suit the 4th WR role just fine.

Defense-
I tried to get players with size for this new 3-4 and I achieved my goal. On the d-line I had two talented big guys in Roye and Warren there to stay fresh and rotate in the middle, and was able to I think steal Trevor Pryce in free agency. He might not be talked about much, but he is very much and elite defensive lineman, and has the size to play 3-4 end very well. I moved Lang to OLB to utilize his pass rushing skills to the full extent, and Davis and Trotter should be dominate inside. I think I have a very formidable secondary in Al Harris-Antrell Rolle and Griffith and Sean Jones. All of these guys are young, and when Griffith calls it quites Jones will take his spot and Brodney Pool should move right into the FS position without a hitch. Rolle and Harris are both corners capable of playing man-man with great success and should complement my 3-4 very well and my safeties have a nose for the ball and like to hit, further complimenting my defense.

I think with the additions I made to this team, along with some of the great new coaching brought in, this can be a very very competitive team in an otherwise weak division.

I never once said I was judging on how many trades you made I said I was wondering what trades you made as how good the trades/signings/draft picks you make usually decides how good of a GM you are. If you only made one thats cool I was wondering what it was. I don't think it is improper at all to discuss before the draft it gives people a chance to defend what they have done and for me to understand what they were thinking
ie. Titans with drafting Smith

The reason I think this thread should wait is it may change or influence somebody, how your going to vote should not be influencing anybody else.

Again, a GM is graded by the quality of his roster, not by how many trades he
made.

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.

To quote you:

Not much to talk about you never did much

You say that, and yet, I have 19 new players on my roster, but even though you are clearly wrong about my not doing much (adding 19 players is hardly not doing much)someone may be influenced by what you wrote.

What I'm trying to say is this, its cool for each owner to come on here and discuss the moves they made to improve their team and why they did what they did, what I think is a mistake is your post analyizing everyone elses team before the vote. Your opinion, flawed or not may influence others

Rams: Best thing you did was dump Faulk. While the secoundary looks better with Madison there. Again no trades/picks mapped out for me but your D looked to improve a little a few weaknesses while besides a little on the O-line offence will continue to light it up

well, unfortunately the first gm only made 1 trade that i can remember, sending pisa whatever (the lb) to the phins for madison. im sure there was more, but thats what i remember.

i didnt take control of the rams til free agency was just about done, so i didnt really have a lot of room to work with. but the offense will be explosive as usual with the wr's they have. bruce, holt, bradley, curtis, mcdonald. LOTS of speed. curtis showed towards the end of the season and in the playoffs that he can be a legit #3 wr. defense, ehhhhh. i think the dt's are a whole lot better with brian young - guy has a nonstop motor. lb's are a little better with steve foley and james allen. the oline was obviously the biggest weakness that they had. ot jamal brown will be a beast in the nfl, bank it. him and pace will make one hell of a combo. timmerman, mccullom, and kosier isnt the best, but it sure as hell aint the worst.

well Here's my take on three teams... Pitt Tenn and the Jets...

Tennesee- the only knock on you was the Alex Smith Pick..ok do something with him sign and trade or somethin but dont keep him on your team and then start him over the one QB that Showed flashes of Brilliance last year, whats that going to do for his psyche as a player, You let Steve Go to Free Agency fine...that opens it up for Billy to be the Man and you bring in alex smith and propose a rookie to start over Billy...and lets be honest, outside of Billy's play last year your organization got punished in ever aspect.

Pitt- You have a Solid Base to repeat what you did last year, and even if Wonderboy Ben doesnt have a good Sophmore year, you can run the ball, good acquisition, i dont know what you gave up for Jamaal but he has 4 or 5 1000 yard season left in him and by that time u can get a young back in the draft. Although i dont agree with giving up Hines Ward, or not trying to get Plax back, you have Randel EL coming back and you have Warick...not as Dominant, but they will get thier job done. defensively the steel Curtain looms the AFC still you didnt make mojor changes to what was great defense...good job.

J-E-T-S....problems... you have a solid base...but your draft was week. I agree that Curtis Martin can be on his last leg but he has at least 3 years left with that break out performance he had last year, grabing Cadi when you did was a steal i agree, but it wasnt necessary, Your recieving core was iffy....then you draft a Qb who will try to convert to WR in the FIRST ROUND...the real draft i had a problem with him in the first round...there was a PROVEN wide receiver who ran FASTER than he did in Jerome Mathis out of Hampton who was there at your pick, but you just couldnt resist picking the biggest bombshell of the draft, there is a reason why Slash{Kordell} sucked and why Eric Crouch is the manager at Mcdonalds....I dont think Kay Jay will be in your organization pretty long he has the potential to be a good feature back and you have the future in Cadi...

Ok, if I start Volek and do a little San Diego deal with Drew Brees-Philip Rivers will that make my team better?

regardless it was a wasted pick...and yes you are in a similar situation...because Volek was great last season and you as a GM disrespected him with that pick...if i was his agent i would ask for a trade

After talking with the mods, I regret to inform everyone that there will be no prizes for the gm league. Instead the prize amounts will be doubled for next years gm league. It's basically because so many people were inactive or are still inactive. I would've let guys you know sooner but I just received official notice myself. Sorry.

I wouldn't go as far to say Volek is great. He played well last year but wasn't spectacular and I'm sure any Titans fan would have much rather seen McNair out there. If he thought Smith was the best player avaliable he did the right thing in drafting him, saying that it was stupid is very close minded of you, even more so considering he did draft the arguably best player in the draft. He lost his starting QB and didn't feel comfortable having a 28 year old with 10 games under his belt be his future. So now he has a project that has the chance to sit a year or two while Volek hopefully grows on his past success and enters free agency in high demand and the Titans don't have to pony up the big dough because they have a younger and cheaper player just waiting to take the team to the next level. And he will be around for the next 10 years, possibly becoming the face of the team. You gotta see the big picture before you attack him.

And saying Volek should be asking for a trade? Comeon, Speilman is out of the leauge, the titans would never get good value for a backup with limited game experience. I don't see that happining.

The top 3 should get badges to go under their names. No cost to anyone.

Good idea. I'll check into it but no promises. I'll let everybody know as soon as I do.

your inacurate...Billy knows the system well and played well in it within an organization that imploded without McNair, and now that McNair is Gone your gonna draft a QB, a QB with great potential mind you but how long does a team wanna be bad for...for 3 or 5 years??

oh and when did i say the pick was "stupid"

Well thats your opinion I wanted to vote knowing why people did stuff and giving people a chance to defend themselves on what I thought they did wrong and already some teams have changed my opinions on their them. Ya you have 19 new players but compared to others can you honestly say u made that many changes, and again I am not saying that it is wrong, and if others think its wrong, they thought that before I said anything and the Saints have this won.
