Talked to Jamar Taylor

Who me? I guess you didnt understand what I wrote. Taylor said EVERY ATHLETE THINKS ABOUT QUITTING and I said Peyton never thought about quitting (furthermore, Tannehill never thought about quitting in his rookie year, Ronnie never thought about quitting in his rookie year, Zach never thought about quitting in his rookie year). So please advise how I just compared the two - I didnt.

Ill do another one further. Did manning think about quitting two years ago when everyone told him to? Nope. Yes it is unfortunate about Taylors injuries, but he needs to be mentally stronger or his life (aside from football) will be extremely hard for him to deal with

I dont know man, but to me it did sound like you were making assumptions. You did use a very bad example...as the other person pointed out.

Every single rookie goes through these mental phases in their first year. You think Manning wasn't super down on himself when he threw so many interceptions his first year? He might not have thought about quitting...why would he? He was in perfect health. Jamar is lucky to even have this opportunity (being from the WAC) and he has been fighting the nay sayers his entire life. To make matters worse he suffered a serious injury that was jeopardizing his future, and making him question his commitment to football...this is a thought that any of us could have if we were in his position. Manning never had to go through that adversity being the #1 pick, with Daddy leading the way his whole life, and in great health.

Jamar made some comments later on that were taken out of context (about how he wanted to give up) ...and I don't blame him for having those emotions. What matters most is he is battling back and we will see it this year.

Your second example where you're comparing Manning (Superbowl champion, and future HOFer) after his neck injury .vs. a rookie from the WAC who hasn't sniffed the field yet is even worse. If you're claiming that this kid can't get down on himself at times being so young that is just ignorant. None of us know what it must feel like to be in his shoes and the amount of pressure compounded by an injury.

Sounds like we should have passed on him in draft, much to high to take a guy with risks like that. He was never an elite prospect in first place so why take a chance

Hey, he's a Jeff Ireland second-rounder. What could possibly go wrong?

I find it comical that you know for a fact that those guys didn't have the thought of quitting in the back of their mind, at some point their rookie year. I would bet a lot of money that the majority of rookies have thought about quitting at one point or another. Even if those players you mentioned didn't have that thought in their head at one time, that's a very small percentage of players in the NFL. Now, maybe not everyone would admit that they thought of quitting when times were tough, but i'm 100% sure that the thought of giving up was in their minds, even for a split second.

and i'll bet everything I have, that manning had retirement on his mind, two years ago. It's a thought every athlete will go through, especially after going through tough times. whether that's injury, performance, or fatigue/not fun anymore related.

Thanks for sharing! It's amazing he answered you.

I would leave him alone though. The tone of the way he answered you sounded like he was annoyed. Remember, this is the player that had the twitter fight with Armando, and all Armando said was he's falling behind in camp due to injury.

I'm uneasy with his complex physical condition, and I wish him all the best this year, but I'm not counting on him.

I find alot of things comical as well

saying "that's not true" is a twitter fight? or am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something, and so is the page. I just looked at it again, and all the screenshots are gone. I guess someone's trying to cover their tracks. I tried to put the cached version up for you here, but initially after they're included, again I can't view them after refreshing the page. But basically, they fought and he said don't "make up stuff."

Seriously?? Do you think Peyton didn't think about quitting when the DR came in and said "if this doesn't heal correctly and you are hit the wrong way, you will be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life", and the thought of giving up football didn't even enter his mind?? WOW, Peyton must be the most ignorant, self centered, jerk on the planet.

Are you still living in Boise? I've always been a fan of his, and was beyond thrilled when we took him. I met him at Fattys bar when he was down for the Boise St. spring game, very down to earth guy.

I'm sure Peyton Manning thought about quitting.

Again, if you've never thought about quitting something, you've never done anything all that difficult or challenging; or you're just a liar. Taylor's biggest mistake was admitting it and allowing such people to feel falsely superior.

I'm sure Peyton Manning thought about quitting.
Maybe the person who claims he didn't should do a little research before he posts such claims, i.e. - from http://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...3b5ca6-3a55-11e3-b7ba-503fb5822c3e_story.html:

"Cut by Indianapolis post-surgery, it seemed victory enough when Manning made it back to the field in a Broncos uniform last season and led them to a 13-3 record. But those closest to him say the feat was if anything underestimated. “I don’t think people really understand what he overcame,” says Duke head coach David Cutcliffe, Manning’s offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee. According to Manning’s father Archie, he was closer to retirement than anyone knew.

“It was, ‘Am I gonna throw like a 40-year-old man?’ He didn’t want to be out there if he didn’t belong,” Archie says.

It’s a fact Manning candidly admits, and for the first time discusses without reserve. "
