Tannehill: 10-13, 114 yards, 1 TD

i'm pretty sure right now that i believe tannehill can chew up man to man coverage if he has time...i have some reservations though about setting up his protections recognizing where the free blitzer is coming from and how he'll handle zone and shell coverages from a recognition stand point...those are my concerns...chad henne teams did a favor when they played him man to man like the jets did it was the shell coverages and the dropping lbs into throwing lanes and him eye banging his targets and having to see the plays before he let her rip that did him in

I think that the disparity in physical tools will allow Miami to dictate some things with Tannehill. I trust the coaching staff. If they think he has to sit, I'm going to support the decision, but based on what I'm reading and seeing, he has the ball rolling enough to throw him out there.

i think they're gonna go the safe route...i always hate safe...david garrard if healthy reeks of safe...its penny like play all over again...that's only gonna take us so far though...

i want it to be tannehill and let him learn on the fly...but i think its garrard

tools wise though this is no contest...

to be fair henne and tannehill athletically are not even on the same planet...tanny shows on college tape that his ability to throw with accuracy and pace while on the move is flat out special...30 yard ropes in the corner of the endzone in full gallop...and he can do it rolling right or left which also separates him from many qbs...so this play really doesn't surprise me all that much...i'm more about how he looks in the pocket... and i don't mean the sideline throws outside the #'s...those puppies are special also

I hope they never lock him down in the pocket if he is comfortable sieline to sideline - is all

It is going to get interesting if Tanny keeps this level of play up. I think its about 60/40 with Garrard to Tanny as far as starting...right now at least. I think Philibin as been pretty honest and I really think he is going to play who he thinks is the best player. Tannehill keeps playing like this...its hard to argue against him. He better be ready though if he starts week 1...that Houston D is no joke...talk about thrown into the fire haha

u can bet philbin wants to start tannenhill more than anyone but he wants tannenhill to earn it, and that is exactly what tannenhill is doing. I predict tannenhill wins the job week 1.

Houstons Defense taking a major hit without Mario Williams this year.....I'm not scared

If this kind of play continues on the practice field, it wouldn't make any sense to give the starting job to Garrard or Moore. Tannehill should absolutely get the nod IF this promise continues.

You speak as if this is all brand new to him. Coming in having already worked with Sherman and knowing the playbook gives him a step ahead of where a normal wet-behind-the-ears rookie would be.

True, but the speed of the game is still new to him. Any player will tell you the jump from college to pro is even greater than going from high school to college.

Because that is enigmatics agenda.

If being objective is an agenda then I am guilty as charged. I know that's a tough concept to grasp because people want to crown paper champions in a week's worth of practice.

Come talk to me when Tanny show's something vs. the starters on defense. I will gladly applaud if that happens. Beating up on the backups when he's the only guy in camp who had any previous experience under Sherman's offense is not exactly a crowning achievement. Playing well vs. them should be expected since most normal rookie QB's come into camp having to adjust to both the speed of the game as well as learning a new offense.

Speed of what? The backups? You realize there's a massive "speed and talent" difference between them and our starting core right? There's a reason he hasn't faced those starters yet.

All three of our QB's have looked good and put up TD's vs. the backup defenses. I take nothing from it.

What I do take overall is that at this stage the time-table for Tannehill's learning curve appears shorter than the average rookie QB.

I'll have to disagree with you there. There isn't much difference in speed. Everyone in the NFL can run. The fastest player on the team, Gates, is not a starter. You should be talking about ability. It's ability not speed that seperates a starter from a reserve. Keep in mind Miami has a very good and deep defense.
