Tannehill and Wallace

Both were Wallace's fault. If you catch the ball and then fumble after making a football move it has to be on you. The deep pass I thought was great, that window is small so no matter how you get it there the receiver has to find a way to keep those feet in. You got me at the part where you said it wouldn't improve and we needed to search for another number 1 receiver though. What makes you think it's on Wallace, Tanne had some terrible throws yesterday. They both need to improve for the better of this team.

I think it is Wallace because Tannehill doesn't have the same problems with any of the other receivers. Wallace made 4 terrible plays yesterday:

1. The botched TD pass

2. The fumble

3. He failed to come back for the ball on a 3rd and 11 pass despite having 2 full yards of room. Revis knocked the pass away.

4. An 18 yard pass to the side line HIT HIM IN THE FACE.

If you think the play where Wallace had Revis on his heels on a crispy double was on Wallace himself, you're blind. That was a completely botched throw by Tannehill. Period.

I think they will get it in sync. And here is my edgy opinion:

The blame for Tannehill/Wallace being on different pages falls on the coaching staff. Joe Philbin came out and said that they practice deep balls only 4-5 times per week. And that that was Joe's call.

They need to practice it 4-5 times per day.
wow - I didn't know this. That's so weird as that's what Wallace is - a deep threat / home run guy. He looks painfully uncomfortable running crosses and underneath stuff. Are we trying to use him in a way that doesn't optimize him?

Agreed. I don't know how anyone can say it was Wallace's fault. He toasted Revis and we have to hit that play. A very similar play was made by Big Ben and Brown yesterday by the way.

The window wasn't as small as you think. The window was actually wide open. Thill didn't have to put that ball out of bounds. Do yo think a great QB would make a better throw? And I'm not understanding how you can't see the way Thill could've helped "HIS" WR out by making a better throw.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Tannehill is throwing on the run to avoid pressure. Wallace takes himself out of bounds because he refuses to catch the ball with his hands. He leans toward the sidelines to give himself room to basket catch the ball at his chest. If he reaches up and catches it with his hands, it is an easy catch and a beautiful throw.

I guess I'm blind then, it looked like a good throw to me. Funny how you like my post about not insulting people, then call people blind.

Trent Green on the CBS broadcast, Joe Rose, Brian Griese, and Jimmy Cefalo on the Dolphins radio broadcast all agreed that if Tannehill threw that ball further inside, it's a TD. Instead, he threw way outside.

Joe Rose put further emphasis on that particular play this morning, and was hammering the same stance over and over...."You've got to throw that thing further inside, and it's touchdown".....

The ball should've been out as soon as Revis was on his heels on that double move....

If you don't agree that that was a poor throw, then I must make the assumption that you struggle to see. Sorry.

Thank you for the screen grabs! Yup...I'm totally blind, because that is a BEAUTIFUL THROW! But hey, this is FH so everyone else that disagrees, feel free to continue the insults.

Time to begin the search for a new #1 WR for next year.

I'll preface by saying, I'm not really a fan of Wallace. Though, I do think he exerted effort yesterday that we have not seen from him in the past. Anyways, just because he lines up as the Z receiver, I don't think he is considered to be a #1 WR in Lazor's offense (even though. Ireland paid him as so). I don't think any one is for that matter. Wallace does provide match up problems with his speed and that is the primary basis of our current offense; creates match ups for mismatches.

Look at the screen grabs. The ball was there. I dont use others' opinions to base my own. The ball would have landed inbounds if wallace wasn't there.

It's just such a weird conversation. Some people are making too many excuses for both players. I probably make too many excuses for Tannehill.

But man, I'm sorry, I watch a lot of football. That throw where Wallace stepped out of bounds was a GOOD play by the QB. It wasn't perfect, but it was GOOD ENOUGH for a guy escaping pressure and scrambling to his right. You have to come down with that ball if you're being paid 17 million freaking dollars.

Tannehill threw some bad passes. A bunch of 'em. He was BAD in the first half. But come on. Stop making the excuses for Wallace that you claim people are making for Tannehill.

This is the ball placement from 40 yards away while throwing on the run:

Give me a break with the "completely botch throw" nonsense.

Last time I checked a WR's job is to catch the ball. Whether it is behind him, in front of him, above his head, whatever. Once he has possession of the ball, then whatever happens is on the receiver. To blame Tannehill is ridiculous and anyone blaming Tannehill for that has an agenda, and just wants to think negatively on whatever he does. Like someone said in another thread, it is a new offense, and it was game 1 of the season. We won, and we won convincingly. He can only get better from here on out.
