:hclap:To all the morons that said Ryan Tannehill had no value :finger:finger:finger:finger:finger:finger

The Miami Dolphins are trading longtime starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans.

Miami will receive a 2020 fourth-round pick along with a 2019 seventh-round pick in exchange for Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round pick, a source told ESPN.

You Tannehill fan bois can't let it go.

He is going to a team to be a backup. He wasn't worth the #8 pick when we drafted him and he amounted to a 4th rd pick after a 7 year resume.

Toot that horn. Enjoy.

We robbed the Titans.
Well that robbery looks like petty theft now.

Considering the $5 Mill mob money it essentially shows you how little value Tannehill had around the league and our desperation to get rid of him.

Still a good deal for all sides.
- Titans get a backup for essentially two mill and a 6th round pick.
- we can move one and added another pick next year and slightly downgraded one pick this year. We still save some money on the cap and we are in the clear next year and we got rid of a distraction.
- Tannehill wi be backing up a QB very similar to him, probably will get a couple starts and makes at least 7 Mill.

“As it turns out, it’s the Brock Osweiler Trade Light.

The curious ability of the Dolphins to unload quarterback Ryan Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round pick onto the Titans for a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2019 seventh-round pick was fueled by Miami’s decision to give Tannehill a $5 million parting gift. The Dolphins will pay that much of Tannehill’s guaranteed $7 million salary for 2019, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

So, basically, the Dolphins have purchased for $5 million and a sixth-round pick this year a fourth-round pick next year and a seventh-round pick this year. That’s the only reason to trade Tannehill instead of cutting him, given that Tannehill’s contract had no guaranteed money due in 2019.

Indeed, the Dolphins simply could have cut Tannehill, owing him nothing and accepting nothing in exchange for him. Instead, they get value in the form of net draft-pick gain — but they’re paying $5 million for it.

From Tannehill’s perspective, there was no reason to accept the trade, given that the Dolphins eventually would have released him. With no trigger in his contract forcing Miami to either make a lump-sum payment or guarantee a chunk of his base salary, however, the Dolphins could have squatted on Tannehill, waiting for perhaps an injury or the inability of a team to get a quarterback they may be targeting in the draft. His base salary would have remained not guaranteed until Week One of the regular season.

Of course, the Dolphins would have had to allow Tannehill to participate in the offseason program opening next month, assuming the risk of a fluke season-ending injury that would have put the team on the hook for the full $18.75 million he was previously due to earn.

So it was a win-win-win for a team that needed a backup quarterback, a team that wanted to shed its starting quarterback, and a quarterback whose options likely would have dried up if he’d refused to go along with the trade and the reduced salary.”

We bought the fourth rounder.

4th round picks are nothing but throw ins when it comes to making a qb draft move.

So I don’t see where this did much there.

That said it does appear to be a win win for both parties. Actually all 3 parties.

Or for him to have had a competent coach in the first place, or an Oline that didn't rank in the bottom 5 year after year...

3 GMs, 2 HCs and multiple OCs did lose their jobs with Tannehill at the helm. Never mind watching his teams quit on him late in the season as great reminder of the end of HIS era.

Tannehill isn't fully to blame, but he owns his record.

I’m glad he voided his contract, that was the right move by him.

And personally I'm more than happy for that, I won't lose any sleep over our billionare owner being a little out of pocket but we need those draft picks way more.
Cost of business, imo.

What’s more, even though the Dolphins will carry an $18.4 dead money cap charge on Tannehill for 2019, they will have no dead money charge on the Dolphins’ cap in 2020.

That puts Miami in position to carve out more than $125 million in cap space in 2020 if they release several veterans, as we explained could happen in this recent piece. And whatever cap space is not used this offseason will carry over to Miami’s available cap space in 2020.

So the Dolphins will have plenty of flexibility as this rebuild moves along.

They are gathering picks and setting the cap for 2020- could see a 1st rd trade down this year as a possibility also - depending.
Yessir. Or going all out for Murray. Only time will tell. Either way, it's a smart & ballsy strategy.
