Tear an ACL in minicamp? How probable?

Sorry if this was already asked, but: What was Poole doing at a rookie mini-camp?

i wouldnt call people creampuffs for tearing ligaments... if you have played almost any sport for an extended period of time (years), you're bound to tweaked somethin now and then if not worse. nobody ever goes through a lifetime of sports and doesnt pull or strain or even tear somethin.

it wasn't a rookie minicamp. there were 3 days of rookies, and then the proceeding 3 or so days were veterans. we didn't get any media access to that at all. have you wondered why zach thomas and madison were feeling optimistic about saban's system all of a sudden? that was right after one of the vet practices.

We've just been cursed with injuries.
Last year? yes. This year? Well I hate to see a young promising guy go out, but it is one injury, and he WASN'T a starter yet. Try to keep things in perspective and stay away from gloom and doom for another couple of weeks. Thanks. :D

I tore mine without contact. It's as easy as plant, cut, and twist. I was simply juking when I tore mine. Takes about 8 lbs of force to tear a ligament.

Exactly, and only about 12 lbs of force to break your wrist. So be care ful when you brace yourself from falling

Actually, it seems that in most cases an ACL tear happens without any contact as opposed to MCL and LCL knee injuries. The MCL and LCL injuries are typically when a player get's hit from the side and the knee buckles inward or outward (depending on the direction of the hit). I've torn both of my ACLs playing volleyball. No contact whatsoever.

I know Richie Incognito tore his ACL in the Rams' rookie camp, but who was the other dude in the NFL to tear an ACL? I mean aside from Poole (if indeed he has a torn ACL).

I thikn I heard Kevin Everret did. TE from Miami, that was just drafted by the Bills.

Oh that was the other one. Tough luck for the Bills, I liked Everett too. I think in the end they would have been way more happy with Everett, had he not just blown his knee, than they will be with Roscoe Parrish, who will look like a superstar in camp, and do nothing but disappoint you in games a la Charles Jordan.

Are we even SURE it's a torn ACL yet? I thought the sources were saying they thought it could be.

I guess we dont know for sure. I was just sorta following the crowd on this one.

This is my point exactly that I have been trying to say in these threads. I refuse to start another Poole thread because the forum is already filled with like 15 threads about Poole, but, it seems everyone has basically accepted at face value that Poole has torn his ACL and he will miss the season.

Saban put the clamps on the local media for a few main reasons and one of them was injury reporting. Players are not allowed to speak to media about injuries, their agents are not allowed, and coaches other than Saban are not allowed to speak to the media about injuries. He wants injury situations to be very cloudy during the season, to where teams find out if a guy is playing only when they see him on the field or they don't see him dressed out. The league forces you to declare to them injuries and probable, questionable, doubtful, or out...but that is all that Saban intends to do.

Honestly, I think there is a possibility that Saban would even take advantage of Poole's injury, whatever it may be, to see where the leaks are in his ship and what he can expect as far as the media finding out about injuries. It is kind of like taking a tire and putting it under water to see where the bubbles come from.
