The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

I think it's time you guys stop looking at the Yankees are start looking at the Blue Jays. Their coming for 2nd place!

I think it's time you got some new material. You've only used that line about 6 times in this thread alone.

Why? I know my team isn't very good right now and it's not like this is something new. Just saying you need to work on the material it's getting stale.

Actually, I challenge you to find a post in here where I even mentioned the Toronto Blue Jays coming for 2nd place (which they are and are probably going to get it). Your just in denial like the rest of Red Sox nation!

If this isn't a case of 2nd city mentality, I don't know what is...

And what a ridiculous comment about us being worried about the Blue Jays! Shouldn't YOU be worried that the Yankees got their ***** handed to them again, by the Angels. How many series have you taken from them since they ended your franchise's season in 2002? You better hope they don't make the postseason, cause the Yankees can't beat them.

Also, you seem to be posting in this thread more than the pinhead one. No one here cares what you have to say.

Shouldn't you be lifting or something, anyway?

Maybe about 4 posts ago

Just tell me how it feels to be eliminated from the playoffs in the first round okay? Where is your league high payroll getting you? ARod chokes worse than an amatuer porn star in her first role
/me makes the choke hand/throat motion at ARod

Yeah the same team who seems to always be the "real men" in the division every year in September and October, the Yankees. It sucks you guys can't play in the National League East all year doesn't it? Forget worrying about the Yankees, you guys need to worry about battling the Blue Jays for 2nd place!

Does this answer your challenge?

You got me, I plead guilty. But in all seriousness, you guys are going to fall to third. Then Red Sox nation will be....

If we fall to 3rd place, then we fall to 3rd place. Honestly if we don't make the playoffs (which I don't think they will right now) I could care less what place we end up in because its a moot point. Winning the World Series, winnng the division, and winning the Wild Card to get into the playoffs is always the goals in that order.

Agreed, our team is such a mess right now we don't deserve to make the playoffs.. My friend asked me the other day why I didn't want to make the playoffs this year, and simply because even if we somehow made the playoffs (we aren't) we would just get blown out.. Our pitching is subpar, bullpen stinks, and lineup has been up and down.. I don't think any of us are making excuses for this team, I thought we would be better than this but, you could see something like this coming with all the pitching we lost..

Oh I agree. It's extremely disappointing to see how bad this team is right now compared to how they were just rolling over teams earlier in the year. Maybe the injuries caught up to them, the many rookies came back down to earth and hit a road block, veterans struggled, the team was a bit overrated because they were killing the NL, maybe all of the above.

This is a perfect example of why I'm glad Theo didn't deal anyone at the deadline because what player would have helped them? Exactly.

It's funny because if any Sox fan wants to read a great book pick up "Feeding The Monster", in the first chapter Theo states that he's rebuilding the team by getting younger, quicker and better. He also goes on to say that this year (2006) the team might not make the playoffs but it's all part of the grand plan for the future. Maybe he really knows what he's doing (at least I hope so).

Don't worry Red Sox fans, your starting rotation looks promising next season, Schilling, Beckett, Bronson Arroyo.... oh wait he was traded

And since June 19th Arroyo is 1 and 6 with an ERA over 4.50, in the NL mind you.

Wily Mo's numbers in 217 at bats: 11 HR, 38 RBI, 300 BA and .345 OBP.

I think the haters of that deal have been proven wrong. Plus again for the 384828173674721 time, the move was a move for not only this year but the future. Wily Mo is only 24 years old.

Id rather have Wily Mo, guy has a ton of potential and like you said is only 24. He scared me every time he came to plate in Anaheim last week
