How is good is Gabbard expected to be? I remember his last outing he went 8 ip and was pretty good. Wasnt sure if he was a high prospect for the red sox or what

He's not a very high prospect at all. Basically he was having a good season in Double A and the Sox decided to call him up instead of some of their other pitching prospects because they weren't ready yet. And their options in Triple A were limited at the time due to injuries. I'm a little surprised Pauley hasn't been called up yet though. He deserved another start after that Yankee game in May.

I'm just wondering which Esteban Loaiza shows up tonight...

....he makes me grit my teeth whenever I watch him.

He seems to be doing well tonight:mad:. 7-0 bad guys:wink:.

Oh man I woke up to this news. The season is officially over today. I really hope this is nothing serious though, not because it hurts my team but because it could affect a man's life.

I was still feeling unsure about the div being over but w/ this news it looks to be over(plus another loss moving you 8 back in the L column). I hope he's ok, I hate him(on the field) but I hope he comes back healthy and soon.

Even with Manny and/or Ortiz healthy I didn't think they had enough fire power in the line up or in the arms to make a run. But this is the final nail in the coffin.

Hopefully Wells and Loretta are traded for something, they won't be here next year so why not get someone for them even if it's a lower prospect or fill in player. Maybe even try to trade a few others as well that shouldn't be on the team next year.

Hopefully everything turns out OK with Big Papi.. it would have been stupid on the Red Sox part to put him in the lineup considering the circumstances.

However, did anyone actually see the lineup we threw out there last night? No wonder Loaiza shut us out... that was AAA like.

:yeahthat:

Get well soon!

I'm thinking the Sox will look alot different next season.

I think its time you bring up any good younger pitchers you have and see if they can contribute next year.

Best case scenario they spark the team

Worst case scenario they get hit on....so what you have nothing to lose at this point

I hope Ortiz is alright and comes back soon...It's unfortunate to see, especially with the great year he was having(again).

I think it's time to bring up Pedroia and see what he can do.

And get well soon Papi

He's been up for a week now.

His first major league at-bat was against the Angels last Tuesday.
