The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

wasn't it loretta who had the green light to swing vs. Big Unit on a 3-0 count, two outs, first base open, and Papi on deck? result: two-run double; red sox take Yanks behind the woodshed.. ;)

If the Red Sox are having so much trouble beating the Indians at home when the Yankees are beating the Jays easily there's a problem for the sox:D Plus, the Yankees have much more injuries than the Red Sox. The Sox should be at least 4 games ahead

You're right however for that Loretta hit and last nights I could name at least 4 or 5 times this past month where he had a good count (1-0, 2-0) in his favor with RISP where he popped out.

Let's just say he was in a win-must situation. If he didn't get a hit he would have been killed for swinging at 1-0 pitch against a guy who lost his command and ready for another explosion.

The Red Sox have been playing like crap since the All-Star break. No excuses. They have had some bad luck with injuries too
(especially lately although Varitek wasn't playing well his injury is a big blow to the team) but still they should have put the Yankees away when they had a chance and never did.

You have to give credit to NY and their role players like Melky, Phillips and Cairo for stepping up and for Wang for turning into an almost sure thing every night out. Yes the Yankees have had injury troubles themselves but (not to take away from the team) when they can still sent out Damon, Jeter, Arod, Giambi, and Posada (who's having a hell of a year) almost nightly it isn't exactly as big of a blow as people think. Yes they lost two guys that drive in 100 runs but they still have 2 Hall of Famers in the line up and 3 way above average hitters. It's not exactly like losing Manny and Ortiz in the Sox line up.

Maybe the Sox will make a run at Javy Lopez in Baltimore who wants to be moved.

Good call. Yes Javy Lopez is now a member of the Red Sox. No word on if the Sox picked him up off of waivers or if they had to trade someone for him (which would most likely be a low-level minor leaguer).

Lopez should get a lot of starts behind the plate instead of Mirabelli.

Stupid O's:mad:

Why? They had no use for him and are going nowhere in the standings, might as well try and get a minor leaguer out of the deal or get rid of his contract.

I'm just mad he went to the Red Sox. I agree it wasn't a bad move by the O's.

another poor performance by Beckett. IMO he has been a disapointment this season. 13-6 is a great record but he has a high ERA and is to inconsistent. He better get it together, along with the rest of the pitching staff, or Boston will be watching the playoffs come October.

Yeah, I've been saying this for a long time now but Beckett needs to learn how to pitch. All he's doing is throwing and trying to blow the fastball by everyone. Sure a 95 mph fastball is impressive but he's facing big league hitters who can adjust. Give him time, he obviously has the stuff and it factor. All he needs to do is figure out how to change speeds, locate his curveball and change up better and he'll be fine. Remember he's still just 26 years old.

Boston has been terrible since the All-Star break. The way they're playing right now is pathetic.

, that's why they needed to get Maddux.

Oh god. Phins I like you but you got to get off this Maddux kick. He'd be eatten alive in the AL.

Plus I'm not a big fan of his and wouldn't want him anywhere near my team.
