so u've seen all of them? u were around when Ruth was playing??

I have seen only 1 but i dont walk aroudn talkign about the ones i havent seen back when i wasn't born
:rolleyes2 Way to put words in my mouth. I never claimed to see all of them. You really shouldn't jump into the middle of a debate between other people. I don't "Walk around talking about ones that I never saw", I've seen 6 Yankee Championships. So when someone says "You act like you've won something since 2000" I find it quite ironic that they are a fan of the rival team thats won 1 championship in the last 85 years.

Rookie INF Dustin Pedroia played pretty well in his MLB debut. Went 1 for 3 but hit the ball hard twice and made some nice plays.

Can't wait to see this guy play everyday, hopefully he stays up the rest of the year..

Oh really? And how would you know how old I am?

This is a great comeback coming from a Red Sox fan thats only seen 1 for them. :shakeno:

Yankee fans will never realize how great an experience 2004 really turned out to be for Sox fans. Like Pedro said, I wouldn't trade 2004 for 1996-2000.

Not to mention we gave the entire Yankee organization the dubious distinction of pulling the greatest choke in sports history.. baggage that will no doubt be with that franchise forever.

Oh no doubt, when you barely need your 2nd hand to count the number of rings you've won in franchise history you have to cherish each one more. :chuckle:

I think he'll be up for the rest of the year. There's only 8 days left until the rosters expand so Gonzo will be on the DL until at least then. Plus I think the Sox want to see what this kid can do so they can determine whether they need to re-sign Loretta or Gonzalez or both for next year.

Also Loretta could be traded any day which would basically give Pedroia the starting job for the rest of the year and next.

Personally I'm excited to see this kid play. I would have loved to see a DP combo of Hanley and Pedroia but hey I'll take Pedroia rather than nothing.

Per request from FaninPatsyLand:

This is Bill Simmon's new mail bag, you can read the whole thing here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060823

But here's the funniest and most truthful part of the column, he is talking about the Boston/NY series this weekend:

"The only negative repercussion: For the first time, annoying Yankee fans are back out in full force. It's almost like when you buy a fly zapper for your backyard (with the 2004 ALCS being the fly zapper) that wipes out every mosquito in your neighborhood, and life is great, and you can sit in the backyard and hang out whenever you want ... and then the fly zapper breaks (the five-game sweep), and suddenly those mosquitoes are swarming around again. I received more taunting e-mails from Yankee fans/friends/readers over the past 96 hours than I received in the previous 22 months combined. They're buzzing around. They're everywhere. And unfortunately, this current front office replaced the reliable 2004 fly zapper with a newer model that shorts out half the time. Bad times all around."

Perfect example: This thread, only it's not just Yankee fans.

Simmons is so money and he doesn't even know it.

Seriously, what a perfect comparison. Great article by Simmons, as always.

Red Sox, keep that 1 "maricle" World Championship. You all may think you proved all the doubters wrong, when all you did was prove the "curse" never existed. There is no more excuses for the typical demise of Red Sox nation. Give me two Championships while being labled "the underdog" before you give me one to "reverse the curse". Superstition is rediculous.

What? Who's talking about superstition? What is the post about? I didn't even understand it.

The Sox DID prove all the doubters wrong by WINNING a World Series. What else do you want from them? They won a championship after being down 3 games to none, which no other team in the history of baseball has ever done before. They won 8 straight playoff games in one year (something no one had done before, before the ChiSox did it last year).

Geez some people have a hard time trying to erase 2004 from their minds I guess.

This is so funny to me. This writer, most likely from Boston, acts like the Red Sox are a perennial powerhouse, when their one claim to fame in the last 85 years is a great comeback and 1 WS ring.

Including Sox fans that use that one season as a fallback for EVERY debate.

Well it is the ultimate comeback. I mean the greatest choke in the history of sports took place during that season.

And I find it quite ironic that the poster who just asked if a Red Sox fan wanted to compare the amount of rings all time between the franchises, is mocking a so called "fallback."

Hypocritical much?

Well from some of the comments in this thread it seems as though I had to remind some people of which team has 26 rings and which team has 6. I don't need a fall back when it comes to debating with Sox fans.
