This article pretty much says it all from a practical perspective.

I think the benefit of keeping Wake has so many intangible positives that the intangibles may even out weigh the tangibles.

We should keep our Hall Of Fame candidate. The Dolphin organization and fans are in desperate need of some greatness in their midst.

I might feel differently, if we were loaded at D-line. In this case we are going to need more help than we will be able to draft, and he's likely a better pass rusher that you will get in a cheap free agent.

Interesting. I like Wake, and as I said above, I have no problem keeping him for a year.

I do question that he is still elite.
Better than average as a specialist? Yes, probably.
