The Chicago White Sox Thread

Mark Buehrle tossed six effective innings and Tadahito Iguchi drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning to lead the White Sox past the Royals, 5-3, on Saturday night. Joe Crede had two hits and two RBIs and Bobby Jenks recorded his 39th save.

Facing two of the AL's lower-tier clubs, the White Sox hoped to build momentum this week. But the South Siders managed just a 3-3 record after dropping Sunday's finale in Kansas City, 7-3. The Sox, however, still maintain a half-game lead for the Wild Card.

Entering the ninth inning on Monday, Chicago had a one-run lead, thanks to Jim Thome's homer and Joe Crede's RBI single. But a rare off-night from Bobby Jenks let the Red Sox force extras, and in the 10th, Brandon McCarthy gave up a homer for a 3-2 loss.

Javier Vazquez starts tonight at 6:05 CT in the second game in Boston. Monday's loss dropped the White Sox a half-game back in the AL Wild Card race, and a win over the Red Sox will keep the South Siders on pace with the Twins.

Javier Vazquez struck out 10 over eight innings, but the White Sox dropped their third straight contest.

This team is playing awful and has been since the all-star break.

Brian Anderson, who is struggling through a rough rookie season, won't be guaranteed the White Sox's starting center-field job in 2007, manager Ozzie Guillen said Tuesday.

The White Sox are hoping to have closer Bobby Jenks back with the team for tonight's series finale with the Red Sox. The Sox received word late Tuesday that Jenks' MRI was normal, but his status remains uncertain.

On what Ozzie said I think the outfield next year will be Dye/Anderson/Sweeney. A huge victory tonight, Contreras found his stuff form the 1st half of the year. I thought it was a make or break game for the Sox and they played well. Didn't hurt that Boston pitchers couldn't find the plate. Jermaine Dye absolutely crushed his homerun. Interesting to see Sweeney leadoff and Podsednik down in the order.

Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye each belted homers to back Jose Contreras' solid outing at Fenway Park.

Considering some of the words that have come out of Ozzie Guillen's mouth the last three years, it comes as a surprise that he deems ''meeting'' a bad one. That's why, after he closed the clubhouse for 15 minutes Wednesday before the White Sox' series finale with the Red Sox, Guillen chose to describe it as ''a talk.''

With just over three weeks to go, the White Sox continue their push for the postseason when they host the Indians tonight. Chicago's Mark Buehrle goes for his 13th win of the season.

Team lost but Minnesota did also I hate to say it but because of what he has done all year I expect tomorrow to be slugfest. A good start out of Freddy would be great the team needs to start playing much better. When they get the pitching they don't get the hitting when they get the hitting they don't get the pitching. They've got a great chance right now with Minnesota playing Detroit to make games up either way just have to start playing better.

For this team to make the playoffs they've gotta be even or one down going into the final series vs Minnesota. I don't think it's going to happen.
