The Chicago White Sox Thread

If the White Sox do fall short of the postseason, the best route would be blowing up the current roster while players still have high market value. That means shopping starting pitchers Freddy Garcia, Javier Vazquez and even Mark Buehrle for new arms. That means a new left fielder, two new relievers and more speed on the basepaths.

I don't think this team is going to make the playoffs and it's not cause of the lineup although I believe their will be a new LF and maybe a new CF although I think Anderson should get some time. Mark Buehrle has been dissapointing the 2nd half of the year. Garland and Contreras are not going anywhere and McCarthy probably will be in the rotation next year but as bad as Buehrle has been I can't right him off for half a season of bad pitching. Freddy has thrown two straight one hitters and Vazquez has looked better but if Williams decides to keep both of them and deal Buehrle their is not a LHP in the rotation. This is just my opinion and I don't wanna blame Cooper or Ozzie but the pitchers were inconsistent because of throwing soo many innings.

The White Sox would like to make room for 23-year-old Brandon McCarthy in their rotation, which means they likely will move one of their starters. Freddy Garcia is scheduled to earn $10 million next season -- $2.5 million less than Javier Vazquez and $500,000 more than the team option on left-hander Mark Buehrle.

Want to know how to shut Ozzie Guillen up? Beat him. Haven't heard a peep out of him in a while

I don't mind him going off because i'm a Sox fan and dislike the managers who don't really say anything and are very stoic. Jerry Manuel the previous Sox manager was like that and he did take the team to the postseason but they got swept. The team has been bad the 2nd half of the year and I expect some changes mainly LF and McCarthy joining the rotation. Sweeney/Anderson will probably battle for CF and I think some relief help will be brought in. I think they'll pick up Buehrle's option and deal Garcia/Vazquez. The one issue i've had with Ozzie's managing is that he seems to keep his pitchers in the game too long. He's got confidence in his guys but I think he needs to make better judgement. Also the bullpen guys are very erratic and lack control.

I'm not mad. The White Sox won the championship last year, and I am good with that. We dominated last year in the regular season, and only lost 1 game in the playoffs.

Now, it's just up to management to see what they will do with the team. If they blow it up, or keep the core we have and add to it.

The White Sox have a $9.5 million option on Mark Buehrle for 2007, and it still seems like a no-brainer that they will exercise it. That doesn't mean the Sox won't then put Buehrle on the trade market, just to see what type of return is available.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen wants third baseman Joe Crede to win his first American League Gold Glove Award so badly that he's considering radical measures. Because managers and coaches can't vote for their own players, Guillen said he is considering voting for Alex Rodriguez, who leads AL third basemen with 23 errors, or Tony Batista, whom Minnesota designated for assignment June 14.

If Ozzie Guillen has anything to say about it and he does Tadahito Iguchi will be back with the White Sox in 2007.

That's just too funny, especially to come out and say that. Crede has been great on 3rd but I'd be shocked if he beat out Chavez or Lowell. The GG award is a popularity award and Crede isn't a big name (yet).

Yeah, he is a good third basemen, but he is no Robin Ventura.

I think he'll beat out Lowell because he's gotten more recognition this year. It's kinda funny thinking that for having a better offensive year a guy will get more GG votes but that's what will happen this year with Crede. BTW I think Ozzie should shut him down for the year the guy can barely move and watching him try to run to first is painful.

With both the Twins and Tigers losing, the White Sox had a chance to pull within five games of the AL Wild Card lead Thursday night. The Mariners, though, weren't playing along, cruising to a 9-0 win, thanks to a pair of Chicago errors and a late grand slam.
