The Chicago White Sox Thread

This Minnesota, Detroit, Chicago race will come down right to the end. Amazing.

I think Minny is a lock (just my opinion) and Detroit and Chicago is fighting for one spot. I have no idea anymore. Chicago looks great one night, terrible the next.

I think the pitching staff has gotten better although it couldn't get much worse. Vazquez has had two solid outings in a row. Problem is the bullpen has looked like crap. I've been waiting for Minnesota to cool off and it just hasn't happened. They've got 3 guys in the rotation right now with an ERA above 6 and they still don't seem to lose.

I think the Twins will fall back to earth soon (although it make be too late and in the playoffs). It's amazing that they're going on this run without Liriano and/or Radke.

I think if the ChiSox can somehow get into the playoffs they'll be a tough team to beat.

Seems like were playing strong now, we played very well against the Angels the other day, where we saw Garcia throw a 1 hitter. If we can play this good the rest of the way and hope for some Twins and Tigers losses, we will be okay.

Pablo Ozuna in for Scotty Podsednic playing well, Dye with HR #42 a 2 run homerun.

Dye playing his best baseball I have ever seen from him this year, offensively.

Now is Vazques can pitch very good today, we can get the win.

A win we need.

Seems like Vazques is a good pitcher for about 5 innings then gets shaky, now it's 4-3 in the 7th.:shakeno:

Thornton, MacDougal and now Logan walking in runs.

Hermanson coming in now, hopefully get us out of this inning.

Frank Thomas deserves MVP consideration...37 HRs, 102 RBI, and the A's still have an outside shot at best record in the AL. Thomas is arguably the lone gun in their lineup and his 2nd half has been unreal

I don't think Chicago is going to make the playoffs and I don't think Frank Thomas should finish ahead of Jeter/Ortiz/Dye/Morneau/Santana in MVP consideration. For a DH to win the award they've gotta be crushing guys statistically and Thomas isn't close to that.

Well, since we blew it today, if the Twins win, I think we are done. We are not playing good enough ball.

The Sox closed the gap to one run in the seventh, but lost ground in the Wild Card as they were swept.

This is just pathetic, we are virtually giving up wins.:shakeno:

The White Sox turned a triple play in the first inning and Josh Fields homered in his first big-league at-bat in the ninth on Monday, but bookended by those feats was a drubbing at the hands of the Tigers, whose 8-2 win put Chicago six back in the AL Central. :shakeno:

If the White Sox do fall short of the postseason, the best route would be blowing up the current roster while players still have high market value. That means shopping starting pitchers Freddy Garcia, Javier Vazquez and even Mark Buehrle for new arms. That means a new left fielder, two new relievers and more speed on the basepaths.
