The Dion Jordan Selection May Have Sealed Ireland's Fate

so far dion jordan hasnt done ANYTHING. so everyone flaming the guy who started the thread are clueless. when exactly was he a sack machine in college? oh yeah he didnt rush the passer often. but according to all you experts hes gonna be a monster pass rusher. there was a report from the miami herald that some in the organization are dissappointed with his training camp and doubt he can have an impact early on.... thats just splendid coming from the 3rd overall pick....who was injured when he was drafted!

care to post a link to this Miami herald report?

All I can say is I would rather have a player of this caliber sit and get 100% than for him to get rushed out there to save Ireland's job.

It's here, http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...ext-two-weeks-loom-large-for-dion-jordan.html, although as Nublar pointed out, some key parts of the sentence were left out to twist things to make it appear to say something very different than what was actually said.

I'm starting to hear grumblings from inside the team that Jordan's first camp has been a disappointment because it has been derailed by injury to the point he's not looking like a major contributor early in the regular season.

By intentionally leaving out the bolded part, it changes everything.

Don't agree with you, but hard to argue any of your logic.

why dont people have the right to be aggravated? we moved up to make a luxury pick at #3 for someone who was injured. now theyre injured again and no ones sure if or when they can even contribute.

The Dion Jordan Selection May Have Sealed Ireland's Fate.

Considering it looks like once Dion finally becomes healthy, he will become a stud, and a thorn on many O-coordinators side for many year to come. I think you are right, his fate will be sealed....with an extension.

As for the others:

Taylor seems to look the part of a complete corner.
Dallas will be at worse a quality Guard by probably mid-season.
Davis is the most opportunistic corner on the team, eventually will be a dangerous player.
Simms is our most complete TE, and will probably now have a great chance to start.
Sturgis will be our starting kicker for many years to come.

In FA we got a receiver in Bumphis that is probably going make the team, and will be instrumental in Miami's Offense succeeding.

Yes, Ireland's fate is sealed...you are so right.

Jeff Ireland brought everybody in the building to the Scouting Combines this year because he knew how important this Draft was. As we all know, the Dolphins owned the 12th overall pick. The Dolphins also had 2 picks in the second round. He traded up to get Dion Jordan who had and still has a bad shoulder, giving up a high 2nd round pick in the process. At this point none of this years Draft picks will make an impact on this team with the exception of K-Celeb Sturgis. If the Miami Dolphins finish with a record any worse than 10-6, please make a case as to why he should get a new contract.

There's no point in trying to make a case for people such as yourself.

1) You dont draft players for what they can do their rookie year, you draft them for the following 10 years.

2) Ireland made the correct call. He did what GM's are suppose to do: make the best decision for the franchise, even if hes not around to enjoy the spoils.

3) Your right though, Ireland doesnt deserve a new contract, but it has nothing to do with this past draft(although im not pleased about passing on receivers). It has to do with passing on Jimmy Graham for John Jerry and drafting Daniel Thomas over Justin Houston, Randall Cobb, and Stevan Ridley. Things of that nature.

4) That said, Ireland will likely return barring a complete collapse. Ross is invested in him and truly believes we are heading in the right direction.

Every time someone mentions jimmy graham I stArt to tear up. All um fans were so disappointed when we didn't draft him. He was there wavin at ireland but he took fat Ben and Jerry.

Some "scoopage" by @ArmandoSalguero, stating he's hearing buzz from the team that "[Dion] Jordan's first camp has been a disappointment."

People need to quit reading that guys trash. Getting news from him is like hoping you get credible news reading The National Enquirer or World News with headlines such as "Woman's Biological Clock is so loud it wakes up the Neighbors".

As for the others:

Taylor seems to look the part of a complete corner. Agreed.
Dallas will be at worse a quality Guard by probably mid-season. This is pure homerism. He has shown nothing at all to suggest this.
Davis is the most opportunistic corner on the team, eventually will be a dangerous player. His great strength is his ball hawking. His great weakness is his liability to give up big plays. Til he gets that figured out, he's a liability.
Simms is our most complete TE, and will probably now have a great chance to start. Hopefully Egnew starts, and hopefully Egnew balls. Fins have to change the entire offense if it starts Sims. But every team needs a player like Sims, agreed.
Sturgis will be our starting kicker for many years to come. Yup

In FA we got a receiver in Bumphis that is probably going make the team, and will be instrumental in Miami's Offense succeeding.

Yes, Ireland's fate is sealed...you are so right.

I think the best of this bunch will be Jamar Taylor. The epitome of what a corner should be. Solid tackler, good ball skills, scrappy, good blitzer.

I bash Ireland as much as anyone but dion Jordan is going to be a special player, give it time. I wanted Austin in this years draft.

Certainly not bashing the Jordan pick but I think that a #3 overall pick should be a day 1 starter every time. Even if Jordan had been healthy during camp he still likely would not have started. I don't buy the " draft for the next 10 years excuse". I do still think it's likely he is a very productive player for us. Can anyone think of a recent top 3 pick that didn't start right away?

I think Jordan will be starting by mid-season. And I mean he will be in there on 1st and 10. In the NFL, every down is a passing down.
