The Dion Jordan Selection May Have Sealed Ireland's Fate

Yup. If he took Lane Johnson instead that probably saves his scaly skin.

And in the mean time despite Jon Martin playing fairly well in the preseason when things don't count, what if he starts playing poorly during the regular season?

You've got a General Manager whose contract is expiring this year. Clearly the owner wants to see results before he re-ups him, or else he'd have done it already. So indeed...when we look back we could be thinking to ourselves that taking Dion Jordan #3 overall did indeed seal Jeff's fate. And that's not even assuming Dion becomes a bust. He could still become a premier player inthe league.

Ding ding ding. We have a wiener.

Oh you forgot one, drafting that scrub guard Thomas and passing on LT Armstead who the saints trade up for with us, what a joke! Finally we might not puke at our draft picks this year!?!

Can you all believe this Thread? I wrote this back IN AUGUST!!! Who would have thought that EVERYTHING I SAID would come to fruition 5 months later?

Jordan May or May not be a bad pick but you did nail everything else. Especially saying Sturgis would be the only one to get major snaps. Good job man.

LOL. Yes, it was quite prophetic. And you received a boat load of thumbs down at the time,...I guess folks thought you were being a debbie downer. But you're right, this draft got him fired.

The owner walked into the conference room where all the coaches and Ireland sat. He asked all of them which player in this draft would have the most impact or something along those lines.

They all said Jordan.

So if you want to bag on Ireland for that. I dont know what to say. Thats just being honest.

I just hope the next guy can figure out we need 4 OL starters pronto.

Good job OP, they should all take there thumbs down back. I said the same thing many times here before last offseason. Letting Jeff Ireland have a boat load of draft picks, and FA money would be a huge mistake. Lets see, he spent multiple high round picks and a boat load of money, on the offensive line, which is terrible. Never drafted any real impact players on offense. Never found a true playmaker at safety when one fell right into our laps. Linebackers are a mess. Replaced a decent kicker with a 5th round kicker who was worse. Wasted two high draft picks on db's who are not even on the team any longer. The list goes on and on. Even with saying Parcells was in charge the first couple of years, which one was actually our only successful year, he spent 4 years turning us into an 8-8 team that can't even go .500 in our own division. He SUCKED !!!! He was great at one thing, filling holes, by digging bigger ones in his own back yard.

Which proves one thing, the owner had the room filled with the wrong people, and the main one is now gone.
