i don't think our defense is quite like theres. they underacheive at spots where as we don't. and we underacheived where they didn't. But offensively, yeah, pretty damn similar.

where do you feel each defense underachieves? just wondering.

i really wouldnt say the bills defense underachieved anywhere.. they just were not good enough at times.. for example.. they could use more pressure from the DEs.. but i dont think it is because they are not playing well enough.. i think they just may be close to maxed out in production.. i am hoping that schobel can and will be a 14-15 sack guy and kelsay 10 sack guy.

What's up Tatonka, again, congrats on the new born...good to see ya back over to have some fun..LOL.. Every one here, Tatonka will charnlledge you to know what you're talking about, so don't get upset if he disagrees. He will give explanation as to why he doesn't and ask you to give examples\proof as to why you think the way to you think...in other words, Let's talk football.. :D

Edit: I'm coming over to help ensure your kid knows there's more to football than the bills, he needs to make an informed decision as to who to support..

For what it is worth, I think the dolphins made some good moves in the draft and especially with the coaching change. I see them as very very similar to the Bills this season.

The real questions for both teams are:

1. Can the Offensive line improve and be effective. While each team has questions at different positions, the line as a whole is overall the most critical part of a team. Bad line = bad team no matter how much talent, Good line = team looking better than it is..

2. Can the young qb lead the team. Neither qb will have to dominate a game. Neither qb will have to be Dan Marino or Jim Kelly.. they will simply have to be good enough to not lose the game and make a couple key plays throughout every game. They must also keep the mistakes to a minimum.

3. Can the running game dominate people? Both teams will need their run game to be the focus of the offense, due to questions at the qb/line positions. Both teams have talented enough backfields to dominate, Imho.

Both defenses are good. I think the Bills is better obviously, but I dont think they are an elite defense yet, despite their #2 ranking last season. Elite to me is when you always stop the other team when you need to, and the Bills couldnt do that against Pittsburg in the final game of the season to go to the playoffs.. The Dophins defense is always good, at a minimum. I think Saban might improve it by letting your guys attack more, which was always the problem in my opinion.

thoughs?

Well I must say I disagree on a couple of points. I think the Fins are a better team by far. I think our D is better, for the reason our D spent most of the year last year on the field last year because the O was so bad. They also where missing two major cogs in the machine with Bowens and Chester out for the year and we only finished six spots back of the Bills in overall D and ahead of them in pass D. As for the Steelers game you mentioned not only were the bills fighting for their playoff lives but they were playing a steelers team that sat more then half their starters. So the bills couldn't even beat the steelers backups in the bills own house. I think the fins have a much better Oline, better WR's and TE's our QB has more experience nd RB's with Ricky comingback and Ronnie being a better all around prospect coming out of college we have the better backfield. All I know is other then last year the bills couldn't beat the fins who had a one dimensional O and a basic predictable D. Your team has a 9-7 season for the first time in years and now you think your better then the fins?? I don't think so. Up until last year the bills couldn't hang with the fins and in one season they are equal?? Fat chance.

DW is no longer here, and I'm not sure he ever was other then the fact that we had enough talent to go to the SB but not the coahing to match. We still have a ton of talent on this fin team and we will be a far better team this year. If we don't have a great year it will be from learning a new system not lack of coaching or talent. I'll say this, we are weakest at both saftey positions other then that we have enough talent to kick the likes of the bills right off the map. Your team won 9 games because the fins had such a bad year. Not because your team was so much better.

All this ofcourse is my opinion, but I know the fins having one bad season isn't a trend, but a fluke. Seems to me you bill fans are so sure your the better team. I love the fact your overconfident, it will make the suffering on your part that much sweeter. Please don't try to compare teams because look at the offseason moves and the draft the fins had, your team could't touch the improvements the fins have made. If I were a bill fan I would be holding my breath that Willis stays healthy because the best thing your team had going is now a one man show. I would have said Willis and Henry were as good a tandem in the AFC east as any team, you now have just one. And If you're real lucky you won't find out the hard way what life in the NFL is like without RB depth....we found out last year, make no mistake that won't happen to this team as long as Saban is HC.

I appreciate your opinion, and I do respect it!! I just don't agree "AT ALL" with it.

This will be ripped apart, I would do it, but you responded to Tatonka, so I'll let him have the honors.....but just letting you know, there's too many facts to prove you wrong in a lot of the areas you said we're better..at least comparing this team to a an established team...

In analyzing the defense you forgot to mention your going from Surtain to a 5th round rookie. Saying your O-Line is "much better" is really stretching things. Also your Wr's are not better than Buffalo's it's probably a wash.
I agree with Tatonka, the teams are both similar in alot of areas.

Oh no don't let the fact that you have so much love for Tatonka stop you, please enlighten me with your football knowledge!! I'm curious to see what you really think of this team. Besides I'm sure you will say things about this team that the players themselves wouldn't agree with. They had one hell of a stretch of bad luck last year a stretch I hadn't seen a team go through ever, as a matter of fact the press was writting all the time about the fins misfortune. But I'm sure you'll come back and tell me how the fins have little to no talent and we should be lucky to see 5 wins this year, while your at it why don't you predict a SB run for the Bills i'm sure tatonka would like your @** kissing even more.

You don't have to kiss tatonka to know that saying that a team that was 4-12 is by far better than a team that was just a hair of missing the playoffs. A team that a lot of people felt were playing better than most teams that were in the playoffs. (minus losing to the 2nd string of the Steelers). Is a little silly.

Did you forget we have R.Howard?? He was a starting Corner for the Panthers SB apperence. I know some here don't care for the guy but he will return to form in Sabans D, And from what I'm hearing T.Daniels has shown signs of being able to play. Besides this team will not be playing man coverage anymore. And the D will be based on pressuring the QB,droping linemen into coverage and making the cornerbacks resposibilitys in the secondary less isolated. Saban will have a D that can't be figured out by the second half of a game and Saban will make adjustments not like Wannys never changing game plan.

As for the Oline, the line really started to play well once Wanny hit the road and we had probably the worst oline coach in the game last year. Now we have one of the best and an OC that will stretch the field making blocking more effective. We added S.McDougle,D,Cook and our RB situation is ten times better. I'd say our line being much better is no stretch at all. Your WR's are not as good as Miami's one of them is older then dirt and the other is only in his second year and R.Parrish didn't exactly impress at UM last year, not for a canes WR anyway. He couldn't hold Hesters jock strap in the return game. Still I think Parrish is a solid WR and if weren't for his size I'd say he could be a very good WR down the road.

I wouldn't call a team taht couldn't beat the steelers backups a hair away from missing the playoffs...but you can.
