The Genius that is Bill Belicheck and How the Dolphins should Learn from the Pats

I disagree. BB was crap before the patriots. the only reason why we're even discussing him now is because of tom brady. the brilliance that is tom brady.

Jimmy never taped walk throughs and that's your opinion! Steeler players will tell you when the lost the AFC Championship game, that the Pats defense knew every play they were running, and that doesn't come from film study! Since you're an expert, why haven't the Pats won anything since they got caught, when they have had way better teams since the teams that supposedly won Superbowls?? Don't tell me Bruschi! Because he's the most overrated player I have ever seen, he was a PILEONNER!!!

It's not my opinion, it's straight from JJ's mouth:

Bruschi made a SB w/o BB as a HC

Pitt was just making excuses, what happened in the '94 title game, '07 title game and all the other playoff chokes they had under Cowher?

The Genius that is Bill Belicheck and How the Dolphins should Learn from the ...

How come Belicheat was NOT a genius in Cleveland?....did he just mature and get smart in New England? Nope. He's a genius because of Tom Brady....end of story.

Sorry. Blind ass lucking into an all time great QB, does not constitute one as a genius.

go watch "A Football Life: Cleveland 95"... see if your opinion softens a bit. he helps - but it ain't all Tom Brady.

Belichick did turn that Browns team around winning a playoff game and had them rolling the next year before the debacle of a midseason announcement that the team would be moving derailed them. He also went 11-5 without Brady. The dude is a hall of fame coach, to knock him because he has Brady comes across as unintelligent and petty to be frank.

It took a few years for Brady to become Brady as we know him today, he certainly wasn't anywhere close to being considered great while winning the 2001 Super Bowl. Doesn't Belichick deserve credit for playing a large role in Brady's development? Brady certainly thinks it did.

As I recall, he did go 11-5 with Matt Cassell at QB. Just look what Matt Cassell has done since he left New England and that tells you all you need to know how good a coach he is to have that record with him at QB that season.

Yes, refuting a poorly constructed argument with no merit makes me a "Patriots Fluffer". :rolleyes2: Putting aside your ad hominem attack, I have been a die hard Dolphins fan since 1982, but that doesn't somehow render me incapable of making comments that are complimentary to another team.

Great point. I mean there was a reason Brady was drafted in the 6th round in the first place. I doubt Brady would be the same kind of QB if he was drafted by the Dolphins.

As a fan since 1975, I can disagree with you. Do I think Belichick is a great coach? Absolutely! Do I think Tom Brady is a great quarterback? Absolutely! Do I think they cheated from 2001-2003? Absolutely!! If that's a poor constructed argument then so be it!! Doesn't mean I can't dislike how classless Belichick is...... running up scores on teams and keeping Brady in for statistics!! Doesn't mean I can't hate the cheapshot artist Rodney Harrison or the overrated Teddy Bruschi! How about Heath Evans? Don't you love how he rants and raves about the Patriots all the time???? If you are true Dolfan, aren't you sick and tired of how the media is constantly mentioning them? Two teams have won two superbowls each in Pittsburgh and New York Giants and Pittsburgh even lost one, but who do they still talk about every year non-stop? That's why I call it Patriot fluffing because Kraft has deep pockets and pays for the extra attention, like having CBS and ESPN executives in his Luxury box for games! Jim Nantz and Phil Simms who are calling the game this Sunday....do you really think their call is going to be unbiased??? I guarantee Nantz will mention the "Great Bobby Kraft" as they show him in his luxury box! Just hate the Patriots and their arrogant, elitest, obnoxious fans!!! That's my argument!

To be honest, I have lived in Boston for a long time now and I don't find the fans to be any more obnoxious than those of any other team that is in the midst of a great run. They identify with them, and the teams love the fans and understand how important sports are to the city. Cowboys fans, Niners Fans, Yankee fans, Lakers fans, all of them are the same when they are winning, and we most likely will be viewed that way as well if the Dolphins put together a dynasty. As far as the media conspiracy thing, I think it's a bit overhyped. The media likes to talk about what gets ratings, and the Patriots sell. If Miami starts winning they'll start getting talked about. Heath Evans, he's just pathetic at this point.

My point on the first page was that I don't believe for a second that there is a single fan who would be upset if Belichick had won 3 Super Bowls for the Dolphins and been accused of cheating. We'd say the same things the Pats fans say to us if we bring it up, "we have three rings in the last 12 years and you haven't won anything in 40 years". Same with guys like Rodney Harrison, we only hate them when they are on the other team, but we'd love to have them on ours. Most of us like having Incognito for the attitude he brings, but the rest of the league despises him as did Dolphins fans before he came to Miami.

My other point which isn't directed at you, as you acknowledged Belichik as being a great coach, is how silly I think the whole, "Belichik lucked out with Brady" line of reasoning is. Has there every been a coach who has had a sustained run of success and championships that didn't have elite and Hall of Fame players? We're not talking about Barry Switzer taking over a loaded team, having his QB basically run the whole offense, and winning a Super Bowl without actually doing anything. Sure Belichick doesn't win those Super Bowls without Brady, so what? Walsh doesn't win his without Montana, who was the last pick of the 3rd round. What about Pat Riley's Lakers, Red Aurebach's Celtics, Stengel's Yankees, or Shula's 70's Dolphins teams? Do we think less of them because they had amazing players? Of course not, because we all know that there is certain level of talent that is requisite to becoming a dynasty, and part of that level of talent includes a highly talented coach. No coach in any sport has ever been part of a dynasty without great players, it doesn't happen. A coaches job is to teach and to put his players in the best possible position to win. So to act as if BB has just been along for the ride for 12 years is ludicrous, those great Pats teams were not great because of one player.

It was mentioned by someone earlier in the thread, but "A Football Life: Cleveland 1995", really offers some excellent insight into what Belichick brings to the table. Hearing Ozzie Newsome talking about how he learned everything about being a GM from being on Belichick's staff and implementing Belichick's evaluation systems in Baltimore is pretty eye opening, among other things.3

Also, I have sadly given away my great seats for Sunday's game as my wife, 4 year old daughter and I all have Bronchitis which we are having a a bit of an outbreak of here in Massachusetts. So to all of you coming in from out of town, stay away from those filthy Pats fans.:) Seriously though, take extra care washing your hands at the stadium this weekend.

Tom Brady the greatest football player of all time. The only player in the history of the NFL that can win all by himself. To act like Belichek only wins because he somehow lucked into to Brady is a bad argument. How many superbowls did Shula win with Dan Marino? IS Tom Coughlin not a good coach because he didnt win with Jaguars? Belicheck has a hand filled with superbowl rings, won 1 games with Matt Casell and i still putting out a winning product this year with tons of injuries and Brady playing bad.
