Oh ok,l the elite teams like Miami and Dallas who have never even won a conference title  ;)
You bring up the past too much. It's like you think the Nets are more of a contender than Miami this year because of what they did a few years ago with a completely different roster, and that's just being stupid. Looking down on a team as a championship contender in 2005-2006 because of how far they've gotten in the past, is again, plain stupid. You refer to the past so much because as a Nets fan, that's what you have to live in. I don't know why, though, because who actually celebrates Championship losses? Only losers do. :shakeno:

No...the current elite teams in the NBA...

Basketball is not like any other sport...

The NBA is not like the NFL where you can say "Any given sunday" or a team like the Chicago Bears can just show up and have a chance at a SuperBowl...

The NBA has 4 or 5 teams that have ANY CHANCE at winning it all in any given year...I posted them....
Exactly. In the NBA, you know. There's always 4-5 teams that have a chance, if even that much. Why? Because there's no such thing as a "lucky Saturday/Sunday" in the playoffs where if you bring it and the other team does it for one game, you move on. It's best of 7 for a reason.

Detroit & San Antonio are the top two contenders right now. Then, you've got Miami and Dallas. Realistically, nobody else is a contender. I'd call the Suns a borderline contender because of how they're playing without Amare, and he will be coming back to make a huge difference. Indiana could've been, but the Artest situation has screwed them.

Cleveland, New Jersey, LAC, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Washington, Utah, Minnesota, Golden State, Memphis...teams like this, realistically, are not contenders. It will take major injuries from other teams to give these teams an ideal shot.

If the Nets play like they have been they can definitely compete for the Eastern crown and to automatically put a team like the Heat above others , a team that has never won anything(along w/ Dallas), is just plain silly. I know it makes you guys feel better that you consider them elite since you know they aren't winning a title but it's just silly to dismiss all other teams. The Heat are a good team, not great, they still have alot to prove and yes in all likelihood they'll be the 2nd best team in the East but it's way too early to dismiss other teams.

It's more than you guys have to celebrate. The Nets have ABA Titles and have at least come clsoe to winning an NBA Title something Miami has never done.

The Nets have NO chance to compete for anything....as it stands now...they would lose in 5 games in the second round to either Miami or Detroit.

Your arguement about the Heat not having won anything and therefore not having them above others makes no sense. I don't even know what you are trying to get at. If that's the case...then lets put the Celtics and Lakers in the top 2. The point is that there are only a few contenders every year....the Heat are among them along with Dallas, Detroit, and San Antonio. Phoenix +Stoudmire belongs there, as well as Indiana +Artest.

For the last time...

Only 4 teams HAVE ANY CHANCE AT WINNING IT ALL THIS YEAR.

Detroit, San Antonio, Dallas, and Miami.

You can add Phoenix + Stoudmire, and Indiana +Artest (maybe they can get a decent package for him and be put in this company)

To disagree with this statement is just plain silly.

Where's the critique of the Hornets game Section. I'm still waiting for your excuses of why the Hornets waxed the Heat despire Wade's triple double!

I'd be surprised if anyone actually watched the game. But I'm assuming we had an off night, it happens.

Some Nets homer.....the Nets have about as much chance as the Wizards of winning the east. Its not only logic but common sense and two decades of NBA history that leads everyone to believe there are only three teams to care about in the East. Its nice to be able to blindly believe in your favorite team, as long as you enjoy being dissapointed in the end.

I don't know...The Hornets also beat the Spurs....so this must mean that the Hornets are the best team in Basketball.

BTW...Wade played like crap...look at the boxscore. It was a crappy triple double.

I didn't see the game...(for obvious reasons).

So 2 teams, Miami and Dallas, who have never proven they can win a big postseason series and are annual playoff chokers are only 2 of 4 teams w/ a chance to win it all? Ok

Dude..what are you talking about?

As for the Heat.....you are calling them "Annual Playoff chokers?"

They Swept the first two rounds of last years playoffs and then lost in seven games in a series that intelligent people would deduce they would have won had they been healthy.

Are you actually trying to tie in the Heat teams from the 90's to this one? Are you okay? Do you need a glass of water? Should I call a paramedic?

Seriously...WTF are you talking about?

Section you are right but you need to calm down a bit. Anybody watching how the Raptors are playing lately I think because the East is so weak we can slide into the playoffs if we can play a little more consistant throughout the whole season!

Congrats you swept a depleted Nets and Wizards team! That means the heat aren't chokers  Maybe losing a Game 7 in their building makes them chokers though along w/ the glorious past under Riley.
