Fine and well, except he never said that Shaq had never been humbled like that before. He said that 5 years ago, he would have broken Wallace's arm or stuffed him through the hoop...which is probably true. The point he's making is that Shaq's not nearly the dominant force he was five years ago.

No. The point he is making is that he just wanted to take a shot at SHAQ and he seems to have a short memory. About that 5 years ago comment..like I said..he was made a fool of 10 years ago by a Guy of similar size to Ben in Hakeem.

As for not being "nearly" the dominant force...WHO is? He is still dominant enough.

Heat 109 Pisstons 90

looks good, no?

Take away 10 points from each team..and you would be closer.

First, Shaq plays more finesse now that he's a little older and the refs are more whistle happy about his offensive fouls. In fact, he has adjusted his play even in these playoffs.

Second, saying that a 34 year old center is not as good as he was 5 years ago is not much of a bold statement.

Third, that was a foul!

Obviously you're not a regular reader. Few writers have a better memory for basketball than Simmons, and few writers have more respect for Shaq and what he's done than he does. Heck, look at what he said about the Nowitzki/Shaq thing in the first segment of the column.

Edit: Also, for the record, Hakeem went 7'0, 255#. That puts him 3-4 inches taller than Ben Wallace and, I believe, 10# heavier.

it's all the constant shots at SHAQ have been getting out of hand. We even had Woody Paige and Skip Bayless saying he should retire this year.

As for Hakeem, his height was always exaggerrated..just like ZO's...ZO is really 6'9..but they list him at 6'11.

People in the know have always said that Hakeem was much closer to 6'10 than 7'0.

***** better take some motrin! :fire:

We're good tonight, guys. I feel this one. I don't feel a close victory, I'm feeling something along the lines of being up 10-15+ in the final minutes before we take out the starters and basically leave the lane open for Detroit easy buckets (as its already over). I think we're up 5-10 at the half, then Detroit cuts into the lead, then we explode to take a big lead and never look back.

Go HEAT!

You know what is funny?

If it is Heat / Mavs in the finals...all the games will be played in American Airlines Arena.

The big wigs at American Airlines will be rooting hard tonight and tommorow.
