ive never heard so much crying ever.....in a game that dallas should be screaming at for making horrible decisions and not being clutch....dirk make ur free throws like youve done all year...howard make urs...0-2 after a 9-9 start???? avery bring ur player in, dont signal for him to call a timeout and howard admit u called it.....you've done that b4 in ur college days also.....

game 3 the heat came back in thrilling fashion, game 4 we romped and game 5 we wanted it more....now we have to take care of business....i liked this dallas team alot before all the crying

You're nuts. I barely remember the Showtime era, as I was a kid, but I would take that over today's basketball any day of the week. Basketball's been in a decline for years, and unlike others, I deny that it ever came out of it.

I remember it well.

All you really have to do is watch the NBA TV channel and watch what they call the "greatest games"...

Seriously....is a game really all that well played when you take a 135 to 134 lead on an uncontested layup in the half court set by driving right down the middle?

Look up the FG% from those days...they were not better than today's...yet they score in the 110's consistently...that tells me that they are playing ping pong and not basketball.

Why not just break out a game of horse and forget actual team play?

The fundamentals were more solid, basketball was also more uptempo.

It wasn't claw and slap basketball like it is nowadays.

When I said "barely remember", I did watch many games during the era, but I was younger then. I remember loving it though.

Late 90's-today's basketball=watered down, in my opinion.

We're exactly 24 hours away from Game 6. Time to move on.

Mavs fans, stop crying. Due to this flawed league, you'll get the last 2 at home.

ya know, baseball uses the 2-3-2 as well....I don't see what's so bad about it.

Ya... but homefield advantage is a MUCH bigger factor in basketball than baseball...

Personally I hate the 2-3-2 format. I think the 2-2-1-1-1 is more entertaining and exciting... plus, the 2-2-1-1-1 is more even for both teams...

That was garbage basketball. I was in college at USC during the Showtime era and attended dozens of games at the Forum. I would laugh out loud at the so-called defense, yet no one around me understood what was so funny.

Want an uncontested 12 foot jumper? Be my guest.

A 3-on-2 fast break with the rest of the players lounging in the backcourt? Go right ahead.

Chuck Daly did the world a favor of incalculable proportion by truly contesting possessions for 48 minutes, and eliminating pathetic Showtime and its imitators.

I can't believe that '80s era is revered. Actually I can, because it falls right in line with abysmal handicapping, of the public at large.

A dream wagering opportunity would be to restore those '80s teams and let them play now. You could bet on the current teams and actually get points, and laugh in hysteria as they destroyed the defenseless wimps of 20 years ago.

THANK YOU. I knew I was not alone on this.

For those on the "backcourt violation" kick...here ya go...end of discussion.

I really hope you're not naive enough to believe the NBA will actually admit it's own screw-ups. Yeah, that'll be the day. A majority of the Heat fans in this thread will admit that, given the evidence that was presented to them, it's a definite backcourt. I'll admit, Wade was fouled...congrats...but it's a ticky-tack foul that hasn't been called both ways consistantly. But go ahead, believe what you want. Hell everyone including the ESPN talking heads knew he was established in the frouncourt first but it's okay.

We are one win away.

I think I need to dance a little.
