The new dolphins gm performance rating so far

Michael Sam played well vs the Fins? I think he is the only dude who went up against Dallas Thomas in the preseason and didn't get a sack.

The Chiefs just paid Alex Smith $45 million guaranteed...

QBs are overpaid right now. Period. Only guys like Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Manning should be getting north of 15m per year, IMO. Smith, Kaepernick, Dalton, Flacco? Not worth it. And yet, teams are forced to pay it, because there will always be some dumbass team like Buffalo that keeps drafting trashcans like EJ who will be more than willing to dole out 20 million a year to some above average starter.

I think this deal is going to look awful a year from now, even though I actually like Smith more than a couple of other QBs who got paid recently. My buddy the Chiefs fan was telling me how he thinks the Chiefs OL/WR situation looks kind of like Miami's OL/WR situation two years ago. Said he thinks Smith is going to have a down year. He's usually been pretty spot on with his evaluations of that stuff, so that makes me feel a little better about week 3.

Wait, who am I kidding? Jamaal Charles against our linebackers...

Barnwell and Mays think the Chiefs are in a downward spiral, not quite a dumpster fire but about 8-8 range. They also think the Chargers are going to take a step back. I'm not sold on McKoy and I think he was the only coach we faced that fell for our go/go-go shenanigans. And the Raiders are still a dumpster fire. Obviously the Broncos are going to kick our ass but I'm not scared of that division, and we kind of lucked into 3 home games against it.

(And I say this realizing those teams are probably saying the same things about us so you naysayers can go suck a goat)

When he faced a decent tackle, he was swallowed up. No pun intended.

As for Alex Smith...game manager who lucked into his starting gig. Fasano and Bowe, both Miami fh favorites at one time, are atrocious. But they are deep at rb and DL.

I've liked Hickey since the beginning. You know what I admire about his hiring? The lack of ego. I'm sick of all these egotistical maniacs. JJ was sunk by his ego during his time here. Saban's giant ego was so central to who he is and fragile that when the heat got turned up he ran away. Parcells and his entire band of idiots were egotistical because of the ego gravity that kept them in orbit around the big tuna. Hickey didn't come in with that ****. Caserio, Farmer, etc were true egotists. I'm glad they didn't come in. They haven't accomplished jack on their own yet carry themselves with an undeserved arrogance. Hickey just does his work. So far he's done it very, very well.

He doesn't just allow holes on this roster to form the way Ireland did. When Soliai is lost, he makes sure to re-sign Starks and add Mitchell. He took an offensive line that was at nothing and has solved both T situations which have been a nightmare for years while arming himself with options inside. His draft didn't wow me, but it made sense. From what we've seen of them on the field, it's been very encouraging. I'm just excited about this team in a way I haven't been for quite awhile. Not only this year, but moving forward. And all that is because of Hickey.
