the NEW leadership committee

I never knew about this, but you are totally right, if what I read on google is accurate. I had little respect for Dungy before, and I have been unburdened of the rest.

This was all complete speculation to be fair though. But yeah, he has a holier than though attitude, and it was said he shunned his son because of his sexual orientation. His stance on anti-gay marriage and groups hes endorsed is highly publicized. That's his right to believe in that, but to do that to your son is pretty despicable.

This is so overblown.

It really feels like I'm in an episode of South Park with the "grown-ups" freaking out over nothing while the kids stay calm and keep things in perspective.

I don't know but i would imagine Dungy and Martin are truly outside the organization where as the others may have a homecourt bias.

Marino wanted to maybe get back into football but I'm sure this crap hunt is not what he had in mind.

I am absolutely sure every one of those people has been involved in
what's gone on in Bullygate, or worse, to one degree or another.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the 70s Dolphins were choirboys.

Exactly!

So if they tell Steve Ross that there are things that are WRONG and have crossed the line, they should be listened to.

And also did no one pick up on what Steve said about a 21st century workplace? He knows exactly what is coming. The NFL is going to catch up to the rest of America in terms of having a workplace in which everyone has to watch everything they say at all times or else someone gets written up or sent into sensitivity training.

As for Dungy, isn't it obvious? The average football fan thinks this guy walks on water. He is on Football Night in America every Sunday and can preach about all the great changes the Dolphins organization is making. Brilliant move to get him in on this just from a PR standpoint. I always see people complaining about Mike Florio and PFT bashing the team.... Mike Florio would believe the sky was green if Tony Dungy said it was.

Tony Dungy, Don Shula, Dan Marino, Jason Taylor, and Curtis Martin....

#1 has anything like this ever existed in football? I applaud Ross for his "proactive" approach but jesus whats this?
#2 what does this mean for our team? to me, it seems as though this front office is gone.. including Philbin. Ross repeatedly referred to necessary change, and now we know where he's seeking advice from
#3 is this a positive or negative?? As much as I love Don and Dan, Don is getting up there in age and Dan has Jon Martin'd us before... this is puzzling.
What do you mean? Did Ross create a new leadership council of these five people? I haven't heard anything .

Yes he did. in his press conference tonight. It seems as though its a PR move, but those 5 guys are his consultants for the Miami Dolphins for the remainder of the season.

Why not Zach? I'd choose him over JT

1. Jason Taylor is African American.
2. Jason Taylor works for ESPN.
3. I believe Zach Thomas lives in Texas, while Taylor lives in Miami?

I would get input from both men, honestly. Also get input from Sam Madison. I think he would bring a different perspective.

I understand the surface PR that Dungy will bring, though I question how much he'll be able to
say on TV due to conflict of interest and all of that. My point is that these men are already guilty
of being a part of the very things that are bringing all this down. How is that they have ANY sort
of moral clarity in as far as it's applicable to this situation?

Gonna pop my 2 cents in here to kinda laugh at this committee. Marino? One of the gnastiest, most old-school berating QB's ever (makes Brady look timid) and he's not exactly the most P.C. qb - far from it, as great as he is/was. Shula? Never gave a crap about his players (EVER, and still doesnt); they were interchangeable parts - that's what he's known for (he was never a "player's coach"). Taylor had his share of locker-room drama (fisticuffs for screwing up his marriage) with none other than his bro' in-law ZT... it likely cost them a game that year as well as other roster moves. Granted, they kept that in the locker room at the time (sorry, I guess I spilled the beans).

The phins contingent there are mainly for organizational credibility. Dungy and Martin are the only ones with an actual resume to back whatever they come up with.

stupidest ****ing thing i have ever heard. everyone that has a hand is running this team is clueless. ****

Well, I know that they have been a part of a lot of different locker rooms in different eras. And they have been in those locker rooms in different positions. So yes, I think exposing them to the culture and the facts of what happened can serve as a valuable third party point of analysis for the team here.

I don't know. I think it's clear that Steve Ross is not the right man to own this team just because he's too busy with bigger things elsewhere, but this particular move I think is a good one.

this is the dumbest **** i ever heard... why does ross have to own this team???? he sucks balls
