Ray Finkle said:You really do have to give the Yankees credit for a good first half with their injuries. You bring up good points Mike. Arod has to step it up big time and not just for 2 games at a time but for the rest of the season. Counting on Wright being good is a risky play and not one a Yankee fan wants to hear but it's true. Damon, the last two years, really stunk down the strench in August, September and October due to all the injuries he piled up. He seems more banged up than usual this year so I wouldn't expect much out of him due to his past and it seems like everyday there's some new injury with him.
I think you forgot another key which is Dotel. If he's healthy he'll be a very nice plus for the Yankee pen, if he's not and the Yankees have to continue to throw Proctor and Farnsworth out there they're in trouble.
I still think the Yankees will make the playoffs because let's face it they're the Yankees and always find a way to win but I just don't think they have the pitching to go far at all.

FinsNYanksFan13 said:I like the Yankees starting pitching better then Bostons (although they will disagree) but I do think Boston's bullpen is better, especially if the young guys continue to step up.
FinsNYanksFan13 said:By the way fellow Yankee fans, 3 games back is 3 games back whether the team has injuries or not so therefore that excuse has got to stop. If the Yankees don't make the playoffs I don't want to hear the excuses that they were hurt. The Yankees suffered these injuries in May therefore they have plenty of time to figure out what they have to do to right the ship!
FinsNYanksFan13 said:The rest of the Yankees season rests on their starting pitching. The Yankees are not a team that can comeback consistantly when their down like they were in the last few years simply because they lack the homerun capability they've had in the past, therefore it's up to the starters to keep them in games and not have to force the Yankees to go to this weak bullpen (which spells disaster). That means there's a ton of pressure on Johnson, Wang, and Moose to consistantly go out and give us 6 or 7 solid innings. I'm confident in Moose and Wang, Randy is really hit or miss (although he's been better lately aside from the Mets game).
With that said the Yankees need another bullpen arm. Proctor, whether over-used or not has used up his 15 minutes of fame being the Yankees 7th inning guy and if Joe Torre has been watching this year he should start using Villone in those situations and should bring up someone else to be the teams long reliever. Farnsworth is another very grey pitcher, he's either on or he's really off but with the money the team paid him this off-season I think their forced to stick with him which may pay off in the end of will blow up in their faces. I'm confident he'll find it.
Another thing people aren't looking at is that the Red Sox are only 6 games over .500 against the American League (the Yankees are 12) and the 16-2 they put up in interleague is why they are where they are, but they won't be playing the National League East beat ons from here on out, so I'm very confident the Yankees will jump them eventually. For both the Red Sox and the Yankees, the series they have left against eachother are huge. Either team will have a chance to really damage the other in those series (I belive there's a 5 game series up in Boston in August and a 4 game at the Stadium in September) so they will be playoff atmospheres when the games take place. I like the Yankees starting pitching better then Bostons (although they will disagree) but I do think Boston's bullpen is better, especially if the young guys continue to step up. That's why I think the Yankees need to get a bullpen arm before the deadline (and another starter if possible). There's a ton of baseball left so anything can happen and let's not forget the Blue Jays, their right on both teams tails!
Anyways I know I'm forgetting other points I wanted to make but I gotta run to the gym so I'll probably be on later after dinner where I know Finkle will come back with intelligent talk to make the conversation continue (as usual) and Fin in RI will come on here saying something stupid as usual. Anyways that's just my 2 cents!
