And I applaud you for this.. excellent post!

lol u only applaud cause you are a sox fan

However he does have a point and i do agree and wont complain if that does happen....however u cant deny that it may of had an impact on the results and talking about that at the all star break isnt ridicoulus

BTW i do think you have to give the nod to Boston on their starting rotation over the yanks just because of consistency and the addition of lester which seems to be very beneficial to them

I applaud cause so far he's been the only Yankee fan with the kajones to not blame a deficit on injuries.

They happen to every team in baseball, it's part of the game. Good teams find ways to overcome those injuries and win in spite of them. Mediocre and bad teams fold when faced with that type of adversity.

what do u expect? If any big rbi guy on the sox was hurt, say big sloppy, you wouldnt bring that up in any yanks/sox discussions? Nevermind it being, ortiz, loretta, and say trot? You got to be kidding. Yes it is part of the game and thats why we talk about it. As a yanks fan i just try to not be biased in discussions and try not to just trash other teams. I am not saying we would be blowing the sox out of the water if these guys were healthy....actually i said the sox have a better starting rotation so maybe the deficit would be the same.

Well the yankees havent folded yet right? So you are admitting they are not a mediocre or bad team. I have doubts about this year, not just because of injuries, but because of pitching. That would of been the case no matter of what happened in may. I thought we would be like 5 or 6 back at the break so personally i am sermi relieved so dont be saying i am a yankee homer or any of that.

Once again u take shots at yankees fans too in ur statement also by saying only one has "kajones."

Nope I wouldn't. And do you want proof of that? Go back to last year on these boards, none of us Red Sox fans were whining about injuries, we took them in stride. Schilling and Foulke were lost for essentially the entire year, yet we still ended up in a tie for 1st place in the AL East after 162 games. You don't think a healthy Schilling and Foulke would have changed that outcome? Sure they would have, just like IF the Red Sox were the Yankees they'd have 26 World Championships. Step back into reality though, alot of things COULD'VE happened if the circumstances were different.

Yes, they haven't folded. They've done a hell of a job considering the unfortunate hand they were dealt with this year, just like the Red Sox last year. The Yankees are a good team, I've said that all along, I don't know what me saying it again is going to prove.

And it takes kajones to state that injuries aren't the reason for the deficit, so he deserves to be applauded for that. It's not a shot at other Yankee fans so much as it is a complement to him.

ok well im a little newer to this forum then u so i obviously wasnt around last year

i think i just have to stay out of these yanks/sox conversations because i get toooo heated

I understand that but I also think that you should understand I'm not here to start trouble, and I don't think any of my posts to this point have ripped the Yankees in anyway.. in fact I've done quite the opposite.

I don't know why you are claiming that my remarks aren't intelligent, but believe what you want to believe.

btw i was a little heated because watching this HR derby pre show, and watching pittsburgh fans booing derek jeter. Why? hmmmmmm i dont know maybe cause hes a great player? Now i have my own personal rivalry against Pitts but wtf man. Give the guy a flippin break, its not like they are dominating the AL

Nah man it's more fun that way. Getting heated is part of the great rivalry.

I think the Yanks will get an Aubrey Huff type hitter before the deadline and a mid-level pitcher like a Pinerio or something. No big moves. I think the Yanks are willing to sink or swim with who they have and realize winning the division for 10 straight years, 4 World Championships and 6 World Series apperances is a hell of a run and it will end eventually. I dont think they will give up a lot in trades to try and extend it. Steinbrenner is out of the picture and Cashmen knows the "right" things to do. Maybe take a step back for a year or two and reload. It's gonna happen eventually and this would be the year to start with Sheff and Matsui down.

I will say this, if Boston has a chance to get Abreu and doesn't........they are morons.

1) It would all but lock up the East and end the Yanks 10 year run.
2) Boston and Chicago are the best 2 teams in the AL right now as of today, and Chicago has the edge in pitching and everyday lineup. These games this past weekend are meaningless, its July. If Boston wants them in the playoffs (and not a repeat of last year)they better beef up their lineup to compete with the White Sox.
3) Philly wants Abreu gone so bad they are giving him away for nothing almost. It will cost NO top prosepects to get him. Boston would be crazy not to add him for the stretch run if they are willing to pay out the $$

BUT, if the Red Sox go add $31 mill to their payroll at the deadline with Abreu, then they can no longer use the "the yankees go out and buy players and buy championships" stance. Oh no, that is long gone once you add $31 mill at the deadline. Only a handfull of teams can actually do something like that ( add $31 mill to payroll) and only 1 or 2 actually do it. Once you enter that category there is no turning back. What's good for the goose is good for the gander and you can't be throwing those stones from that glass house. Red Sox fans might not like that, buts its a fact. But seriously, Boston shouldn't worry about that and should add Abreu (if they want to pay him) becuase it makes them that much better.

Fans are idiots!

Once you accept that notion, you understand things better.

Fans Mike Schmidt booo'd in Philly.

In NY they boo AROD (an MVP winner) but they stand up and cheer Giambi (a self admitted cheater).

Fans defend Randy McMichael ( a man who has beat his wife on multiple times)

Fans made Bill Buckner's life hell for decades forgetting the game was tied when he made that error. Blame the bullpen that couldn't get the last strike when they had the lead with 2 outs.

A fan hit Pedro with a ball in the head on his float during the Red Sox victory parade.

The list could go on forever. Fans are morons. And us with brains must deal with it.

It depends on what the Sox would have to give up for Abreu. I'm against trading top prospects (i.e. Lester, Papelbon, Hansen, Pedroia, Ellsbury) for him.

Abreu isn't a need as much as another arm, either in the rotation or pen. Don't get me wrong I'd rather see Abreu at the plate instead of Nixon, especially batting behind Manny but on the flip side the Sox would lose a lot defensively in RF and he has a rep of being a pain/hot head.

The Sox do have a lot of money to spend though so they could add it if they wanted.

Ok, for the 10,000,000,000,000,000th time. PHILLY DOESN"T WANT TOP PROSPECTS IN RETURN FOR ABREU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They just want him off the books. You could probably get him for guys in your farm system you have never heard of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Philly wants to move Tom Gordon now too, and they just signed the guy this winter. Philly wants to clear payroll in a big way. They aren't looking for anything in return.

If the Sox do spend that kind of money on Abreu, all I gotta say is welcome to the club boys. You can't be badmouthing the Yanks for having an open check book when you guys go do the same thing.

If that's true than why didn't the Yankees get him already? I'm sorry Philly isn't going to take average players for the guy no matter how bad they want him gone, they're going to command at least 1 top prospect or a good major league player for him (see: Arod/Soriano trade).

I don't know I just find it hard to believe that they're just going to dump Abreu for anyone. But hey it wouldn't be the first time I'd wrong. I guess we'll see.
