The past two games he's been bad. No doubt about it. I'm not going to stand there and ignore it, nor have I ever nor will I ever.

After the past 2 nights, he's probably not going to win it anymore.

Honestly, I watched the Sox game today and they didn't deserve to win. Javy Lopez is absolutely horrible on defense. He had like 10 passed balls (I'm exaggerating but he struggled) and even though he had 2 RBI's on that double, he looks just as bad at the plate as he does behind it. The Red Sox were hitting into double plays all night and anyone who says they're better then the Yankees right now are out of their mind. They had 200 chances to put KC out of their misery tonight and failed. Abreu has been great and this deal is reminding me of David Justice deal a few years back. Even though I am worried about the some of the guys in the bullpen, Villone has been great and if our starters can keep pitching like they've been the Yankees are going to be on the winning end of a lot more games. Still a big stretch of games coming but if the Yankees weather this storm in August, their going to have smooth sailings in September with the schedule they have!

If you watched the whole game I give you a lot of credit. The past two days have been two of the most boringest (is that even a word) games I have ever seen. The Sox aren't better than the Yankees right now. It's a joke how bad they're playing. Almost funny in a way. Even guys the Sox have counted on had been doing bad lately (i.e. Papelbon and Schilling).

I agree with your post. Up until tongiht Farnsworth has been very good of late. Bad outing, maybe its the back thing again. No excuses though. But im not too concerned. Nontheless. Musiana, Wang, Wright, and Randy have all been pitching very very well. If those 4 keep up this pace then I will feel very confident going into October.

And don't look now, but Detroit lost again. We are only 6 or 7 back of them for best record in the AL and maybe an easier 1st round opponent in the playoffs. Especially if Chicago takes the wild card. Cause we swept Chicago in NY in July. Then took one tonight and only lost last night on the rare once in a while Marino hic-up. I would rather face them round 1 than LAA!!

Here is the bottom line. In the past 2 weeks Boston lost 2 out of 3 to Tampa. Lost 2 of 3 to Cleveland at HOME! And will lose at least 2 out of 3 to KC, or maybe get swept by KC. Bottom line. If they are in a WC or division race come late Sep, Boston just has to look back at these past 2 weeks and say,........shoulda, woulda, coulda.

You're right but it's not even the past 2 weeks. It's been almost every series since the All Star break. They have been bad since July, no excuses.

Your GM didn't do ya any favors either. How the hell he didn't make a trade at the deadline is beyond me. It isn't like money is an issue, they got a payroll over $120 mill. Make a friggin move!!

Even if it was a minor move like taking on a Lieber or Gordon from Philly! So what, do something. Lieber IS better than Wells, Clement or the other trash they are throwing out there. And Gordon is better than Timlin and Tavaras for damn sure.

2 things that are interesting to watch. IF Boston doesn't make the playoffs.

1) Does Schilling come back for a final year or just retire now.

2) Does Francona after getting swept in Rd 1 of the ALDS last year and not making the playoffs come back or get canned. 2004 is a long ways away in that city's memory right now.

What Boston is experiencing if what they signed up for when they didn't trade any of their young arms. If your going to rely on rookies, don't expect to much. The Red Sox plan might pay off for them in a year or two or three but for 2006 their not going to win relying on a bunch of rookies with good stuff but who don't know how to pitch!

All I know is this, the Yankees better get Moose a ton of runs tomorrow. I know he didn't pitch well against the Orioles but when your offense only gets one hit and that hit occurs in the first inning. The beers are on the bats the next week if you know what I mean!

The Red Sox plan might pay off for them in a year or two or three but for 2006 their not going to win relying on a bunch of rookies with good stuff but who don't know how to pitch!

yeah but they could have taken on 1 bad contract and maybe gave up a nothing prospect to get a Hudsen, Liber, or Gordon. They got the money to make a move like that. Theo dropped the ball.

I mean the Yanks made 2 nothing moves. Gave up nobody and got Abreu, Wilson and Lidel and they are paying huge divdends. Boston didn't even try to make such a move.

The White Sox have not been playing well and the Twins are currently leading the WC by a 1/2 game but I think the Yankees and the Sox are a pretty even matchup. If you'd rather face the White Sox than the Angels I really don't understand that. If it were the A's if they get Harden back then it makes more sense. Regardless of Chicago being down 7 today they gave that game away but not doing anything with bases loaded no outs. Johnson was filthy through 6 but maybe this is the homer in me with Thome/Konerko/Dye/Crede that lineup can comeback in a hurry. It's not possible but i'd rather face the Tigers if the Sox make the playoffs who are 3-6 against Chicago this season. The Yankees are probably in the sameboat with the lineup and inconsistent pitching. If Liriano is healthy eventhough he's probably going on the DL nobody wants to face them if they make the playoffs.

I don't think the Angels are as good of a team as the past. If Colon wasn't on the DL i'd agree but we'll agree to disagree. The A's have owned he White Sox in the past but i'd rather face them if they're with out Harden. Neither team is guranteed the postseason so we're probably looking too far ahead regardless.

Also just to say it the AL Central I believe has 3/4 teams in the AL right now it's going to be a grind for all of those teams even the Tigers who have 6 coming up with the Sox in the next 2 weeks I believe.

I'm not mad the Sox didn't make any moves. The names out there (besides from Jones or Oswalt) weren't very good. Lieber? No thanks. Gordon you have a point on, the Sox maybe should have thought to get him but who knows what it would have cost them. I'd rather play with what they have then to trade and lose than to trade a good prospect for a guy that would probably not even help the team win.

Schilling won't retired. He just won't, he has too much money and his ego is too big. Plus you're saying it like Schilling is on the Royals or Devil Rays. The Sox are still in the playoff race and will be in it next year too. And Francona getting fired wouldn't be a bad idea. He's a bad manager. Always has been minus the playoffs in 2004.

Hansen is really the only rookie who doesn't know how to pitch. Papelbon has had two bad nights in a row but I think everyone knows he can pitch. Delcarmen has been bad recently but it may be because he's pitching hurt. Lester's problem is he just throws too many pitches which is common for a young lefty apparently (from what every announcer says when he pitches).

And if the right move came around I think they would have traded Hansen, but teams held them for ransom like in the Andruw Jones deal.
