The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

That bit*h Ortiz is on ESPN now backpedaling like I haven't seen anyone backpedal before!!

Nobody gets misquoted to the extent he is claiming. This guy just couldn't take the heat that came along with taking a shot at Jeter. He didn't know the fire storm it would start. So, its time to do some damage control. He needs to stand by what he said and not be a 2-faced, spinless, asssssss-clown.

What a bum.

Still being objective huh?

I bet if he was on the Yankees you'd defend him.

Anyway read this article, it's from the reporter that had the conversation one on one with Ortiz.
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2006/09/ortiz_catching.html

Now I still don't think he should have said some of these things but calling him a "2-faced, spineless, assssss clown" is a bit much, especially considering how you back some of your guys who have said things much worse than Ortiz.

Everyone makes mistakes calm down.. He is frustrated and said some things he shouldn't have.. Lots of people in front of a mic for 200 straight days do..

Ortiz meant what he said. He's only retracting now because of the fury his comments caused. I have no problem with Ortiz saying how he really feels (as a matter of fact it's refreshing) but I do have a problem with him pretending like he didn't mean it or was taken out of context. That's how Ortiz felt and that's that. Nothing wrong with thinking your deserve MVP. I think the problem with his comments was that he threw his teammates under the bus, not his comments about the MVP!

What is so different about what came out and what this guy just wrote? he said big RBI guys deserve iot more, he said he should still be considered. The only thing that was in the articles that this guy didn't mention was he shot at ortiz's teammates and Ortiz never denied that comment.

You totall missed the point (SHOCKING!!)

While I may disagree with what he said, I have no problem with his saying it. MY PROBLEM IS WITH him backpeadling and saying he didn't mean it and he was misquoated. Have a spin and stand up for yourself and say....I said it, I believe it, thats how I feel. Don't backpeadel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, so the other reports are wrong. And only this guy is right........

Yeah, if this guy wants to keep working in Boston and if he likes his job he has to back Ortiz now and help the damage control.

Im not buying it!

of course ur not buyin it, u just want to bash him all redsox. I think this guy would know since he is the one that was conducting the interview.

Its actually sad yet entertaining how biased you are, but yet when someone says one thign about the yankees you are the first to complain, keep sayin 2nd city mentality or what whatever other complaints u use

It's sad you spend more time in the NYY thread than the Sox thread. That's the proof of 2nd city mentality!

And when did I complain when someone says something about the Yankees? I want proof. Don't throw out blanket statments, back it up. I want the example of when I "complained". Im dying to hear this.

Do I consistently bash Sheff?!!? YES!!!!!!!! Did I rip into Melky early in the year. YES!!!!!!! I call it like see it all the time, you just don't like that and hate to admit I am right!!! And am right very often. More times than not.

I don't care if you bash yankees, i dont think you have ever said 1 positive thign about a redsox player. There is no point in arguing with you because liek you just said you think you are always right so theres no point.

So I guess you missed allllllllllll of my posts back in June/July about how if it comes down to Ortiz having clearly better #'s than everyone that he should win the MVP this year. Of course the likes of Jeter, Moneru, Dye have caught up to him in various ways. I guess you missed my post about how Manny should get MVP consideration since his numbers were almost equal with Ortiz and he had far less at bats (of course this is before he got hurt). I guess you missed alllllll my posts about how Youk should be batting lead-off and is maybe the best lead-off hitter in MLB with his good eye. Want me to keep going??????

And I don't think I am always right. You see, I have an opinion. I back it up with numbers and/or facts. And I stand by what I say. If you had some knowledge of sports and weren't just a blind homer or were able to articulate yourself through the written language maybe you would come off better than you do. (which trust me, from talking to others on this board in 1-on-1 situations, isn't very good. :shakeno: )

Wow where to begin with all of this.....

Words cannot describe how funny this one is. The only thing I can say is you're the expert so you should know.

My point is is that Ortiz was misunderstood and if you read the article he WASN'T going after Jeter which every newspaper, media or TV station is making it out to be. Go back and read the article again.

Again my other point is is this wasn't a Red Sox player and was a Yankee player there's no way you call that player a bum and the other adjectives you used. Best example with Arod, you defend the guy to all ends yet when he called out Jeter in the early 2000's maybe 2001 or 2 saying Jeter didn't deserve the money he got because he's only a #2 hitter, yet the first day he came to NY he backpeadeled and said he was misunderstood.

Why would this guy defend Ortiz? The Red Sox aren't paying his salary. And if the Red Sox did pay for Boston's writers salaries then Dan Shaunsessy aka Carrot Top would have been fired a long time ago. His job isn't on the line and doesn't have to do any damage control. By the way the reporter is Gordon Edes who has been a reporter in Boston for many years and doesn't need to worry about job security so give me a break. You know that writers sometimes spin things and mislead people to create a bigger story than there is.

I mean this story is the ONLY juice this weekend has, and really I don't think this is even a big deal. Boston is 39 games out of first, the Yankees are on their way to probably another WS title, it's going to be a boring weekend so why not? The truth is in 2 weeks this story will be forgotten if it's not already.

Sorry but all you ever do in your spare time or any chance you can get is bash the Red Sox, or Marlins for that matter. You're barely biased or objective ever. For all your talk about other people having 2nd city mentality you certainly do your share of hating on others. Yes I know you don't post in the Sox thread but that doesn't stop you from hating on the Sox in other threads. Or even starting various threads like "Hey Red Sox fans what's the worse moment in your history" or whatever the thread was called a year ago. But hey whatever helps you sleep at night, personally I could care less about that 2nd city mentality crap anyway. I don't care that you hate on my team or other teams, just don't call someone else out on it when you do it yourself. Hey I admit that I rip on the Yankees and other teams but I still give credit when credit is due and admit when I am wrong about things.

The only thing that I'm shocked at is that you haven't made a "Manny is going to be traded" thread in about 6 months.

Ok now I'm done.
