The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

So who are you guys going to overpay this offseason? :jk:

One problem with the Yanks is its just to business like, where is the fun? Where is the enthusiasm? I think those are two essential things the Yanks lack

Yeah 1977,1978,1996,1998,1999,2000 sucked. No fun whatsoever:lol:

This game didnt bother me. Game 2 was the killer. Kenny Rogers, after his disastrous stint in New York had payback on his mind and we had our version of Daunte Culpepper pitching. Game 4 is a tossup but if we make it to game 5 Wang will close the door.

Just a message to any fellow Yankee hater. Don't count them out yet. You never know with the Yankees. The series is far from over and if the Yankees do win tomorrow, they'll win the series. I can't see the Tigers winning a Game 5 in NY vs. Wang with Robertson going. Leyland has to manage tomorrows game like they're down 2 to 1.

I am so sick of this team, it's an absolutel humiliation to be playing the way we are. We can't score a run off KENNY ROGERS? the same man that gave up1 1 earned runs in 7 Ip for us in '96? the same man that gave up 9 ER in 12 IP for the Mets in '99? This is a disgrace. I am so sick of out vaunted lineup coming up small in the playoffs, we need PITCHING!!!! AROd Gone, Shef Gone, Matsui Gone, Giambi Gone- replace those overpaid players w/ some quality SP and middle relief. We have Wang and Philip Huges coming up, we should have a great 1-2 punch but get us more than the choker Mussina or 90 yr old Randy johnson.

After we blow this series and are disgraced worse than ever(yes this is worse than 2004 and it's worse than the late 80s-early 90s or the late 60s early 70s) we need MAJOR changes, enough w/ going after bats that don't perform in october, I don't care what #s they put up in the reg season, we need pressure performers and we don't have them now.

I wish Sheff and matsui never came back from injury(I know Matsui has hit but he is terrible in LF), we were far better w/ Melky in LF and we' be better Wilson/Phillips playing 1B and Giambi DHing.

our season comes down to the 5-6 inning man jaret Wright. he's pitched well but in oir biggest game of the year he's going for us? I'm sick of baseball, I'm tired of investing in an entire season only to see them choke in october.

Your feelings are warranted but why is everyone talking like the Yankees have lost already? This might come back to flame me but I could care less, the Yankees are winning these next 2 games. I might be in the minority, but I think Wright will give the Yankees a quality start tonight but at the end of the day, if this line-up doesn't stop slumping in big spots, they're not going to win either way. These next 2 games need to be A-Rod's coming out party. If he fails miserably again, he's gone, end of story. Either way I know the Yankees are going to win this series and everyone in here just needs to relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy the next 2 days!

I am just venting, I am very frustrated. I am not giving up but to ask Jaret Wright to save our season is asking alot. Our O needs to get runs early and I mean the 1st inning and give Jaret a few runs to work w/.

Oh I think if the Yankees scored Jeter in the first inning the game would have been over. But once Rogers got out of that, and got some confidence and it kept building.

I agree 100 percent with that statement, it won't matter how we pitch if we don't score. But as for Jaret Wright, I am confident in him giving us a QUALITY START. He's not going to dominate but I think he's more then capable of pitching this team to a win. Hey, everyone said Kenny Rogers would get blown out and look what he did. On paper you don't want Wright trying to save your season but that's why they play the games on the field, not on paper!

It was set up almost perfectly w/ jeter on 2nd and 1 out and we couldn't even get him to 3rd let alone corssing the plate. I know Jeter will come through, we need Damon to get on base any way how to start the game and my confidence in them will grow.

Tell that to Mr. Steinbrenner and Brian "yes sir" Cashman, I'm sick and tired to see this team choke in october, I'm tired to see these two bufons building this team only with offense. Championships are won with great pitching and a good defense, we don't have neither.

I just heard a crazy stat, in the last 14 innings the Yankees scored 0 runs and only moved 1 base runner over.

No Im just saying the mentality of the team now, its a business and not a game for the players. The one thing all of the last WS winners had in common was they had fun playing the game and had great team chemistry

IMO its something the Yanks dont have, they are just a bunch of big names.

I hope the Yankees lose next game out:D and A-Rod is one of the more clutch players in the league too.

how long before WHEETIES BOX and RI boy both show up. They haven't shown there faces in a baseball thread for about a month now.

Well this makes it all worth it!

First off, it's spelled WHEATIES.. like Papelbon, it's not difficult.

I'm glad to know that RI and myself have pissed you off enough throughout our time on this board to the point that you're thinking about us when your team is on the brink of elimination.

Hell I'd be nervous too if my teams season rested on the right arm of Jaret Wright.

Goodluck with that tonight...
