Now this looks like a group of REAL Decent Cornfed!

A big time LT and a 1st round rookie RT make up the bookends to three interior corn stalks that no one else seemed to want. Shelley Smith did not see much action in St Louis and was allowed to walk. Colledge was not signed until late in the offseason after being released in Arizona. Satele, a veteran C was not even signed until training camp was well under way.

I think these 5 guys did an outstanding job today protecting Ryan Tannehill and opening up a few Knice running lanes for Knowshawn and Miller. In fact, the Phins had not ran the ball that well in a long time. Give a lot of credit to Moreno, but the cornfed earned some praise IMHO.

These guys deserve their own thread this season. If they continue to play like this, I expect the offense to score a lot more points than they did last season.

Finallly, has anyone even mentioned Mike Pouncey's name today? I have not seen one person even bring him up throughout the entire day. I guess no one missed him. Maybe it would have been a good idea to trade him in the offseason. In fact, if the OL continues to play well with Satele in there, why even worry about bringing Pouncey back? For what? I suppose if Satele gets injured we could need Pouncey, but why bother with him if we do not have to? All he can do is come in and mess up a good thing.

I think we are better off without Pouncey's antics honestly. He could be toxic to the chemistry we are trying to build on this offense. Maybe the Broncos could use him. I hear they have players who like to pop a few mollys. Pouncey's services could be appreciated in Colorado.

You're underestimating the importance of pouncey. The offense will take another step when he returns. Book it

John Benton is a real good coach and Jim Turner was not.

I never understood people freaking out about Colledge. He's not an All - Pro but he has started every game he was able to play over the last 6 years. Arizona released him because they are close to cap hell. As a short stop cap until Billy Turner is ready it's not bad.

Smith had to win fans over after the failed center experiment.

Satele wasn't good in Indy but in a system where all he is asked to do is use momentum rather than straight up block he is serviceable.

But again it was harped on all off season what having Benton meant for the OL. No disrespect to Jim Turner as he did some good like turning John Jerry into a serviceable NFL player but the jump was too big for him. Of course... maybe if he was given actual zone blocking OL he'd have been ok

Your not going to see this every game. The patriots d-line melted in the 92 degree heat. Of course we need pouncey.

I'm calling bull****. I saw good run blocking and a starting RB who can actually move the damn football out there today. You're going to tell me that running well inside against Vince Wilfork behind our backup center is something you can poo-poo?

I feel very good about what we saw today from the rushing offense.

You know what I really liked today?

Towards the end of the game, when we lead by 3 points, we could have settled for a Tony Sparano special and only had a 6 point lead, leaving the door open for Brady. INSTEAD, the Cornfed helped pave the way for Moreno and we were able to PUNCH IT IN, giving us a HUGE 10 point lead late in the game, essentially sealing the victory.

That is how you put a team away folks. POWER running the ball late in the game to give your team a multiple possession lead. Its pure attitude and I LOVED seeing it from the Phins.

Agreed. We ran the ball pretty well at times in the 1st half too. We just did not give Moreno enough carries early. Also, we barely had the ball in the first half thanks to the short field on our first possession and the 3 turnovers on others. I think time of possession was slanted in the Pats favor like 17 minutes to 6 minutes at one point.

I'm liking this Cornfed so far. Gotta keep it up against that Buffalo front.

I agree of course in recent years even with a healthy Vince Wilfork the Pats run D hasn't been impressive. Now he's in his 90's coming off of a major injury. One of the major reasons I felt the D was a bit overrated is because people are talking about Wilfork for what he was and don't know what he is anymore. Of course outside of Jones I don't have a high opinion of their DL. While I think the LBS are solid the reality is they are playing a 43 defense now with three guys that should be in the 34.

The Moreno touchdown could have went a lot easier if satele continued blocking...watch the replay...homeboy was just standing there thinking play was over! Play to the whistle BRO

They did very well though...that play though...check it out.

I will have to put the tape on. Youre probably right. There is no reason to not believe you. Interesting if true.
