The Official 2014 Cornfed Thread

For a team desperate to prove they are good to us and themselves it would be reckless to trade Pouncey right now. Almost as reckless as trusting Martin to be your LT with no backup plan. Win 11 or 12 games first then we can think about trading him in the offseason.

Perhaps we can nickname this group, "Fat Albert and the corn-fed band"?

Perhaps we can nickname this group, "Fat Albert and the corn-fed band"?

(Meant with much affection)

I said in pregame threads this game would be won or lost with our fatboys vs theirs. Our fat boys on D played like monsters- our fatboys on O played angry. They especially looked happy to run block- leading to easier blocking in the pass game. I'd like to see that all season. So nice.

Is it me or did Wilfork look like he ate Paul Soliai in the offseason?

Buffalo's Dline flat out embarrassed the fins last year. Hopefully this line goes out and embarrasses them this year, if the team can get to 2-0 in the division they're gonna be set up to have an interesting season.

The best thing that could have happened was Dallas Thomas getting owned in the preseason.

Thank's for posting WV. Those guys certainly deserved their own thread. I posted an article a few days ago where Benton discussed the O line position by position with Barry Jackson and was very confident even on the interior guys.
Guess he knew what he was talking about.

The morons that once ran this team,(Parcells, Ireland, Sparano) tried for years to build an OL by using top picks year after year in the draft. The OL was complete dog**** for several years while at least one of those guys was in charge.

Of the 5 starters in today's game at OL, not a single one of them was brought in by any of those 3 idiots.

LT - Albert(FA signing. One of Hickey's first moves)
LG - Colledge(FA signing. One of Philbin's old guys at GB)
C - Satele(FA signing mid camp. Once drafted by the regime that preceded Parcells in Miami)
RG - Smith(FA signing. One of Hickey's first moves)
RT - James(1st round draft pick. Hickey's first selection as Phins GM)

Agreed. We ran the ball pretty well at times in the 1st half too. We just did not give Moreno enough carries early. Also, we barely had the ball in the first half thanks to the short field on our first possession and the 3 turnovers on others. I think time of possession was slanted in the Pats favor like 17 minutes to 6 minutes at one point.

I was annoyed in the first half when Moreno would get us close to the goal line and the staff would put in Miller.

Clearly Moreno is our number one back but Miller ran hard as well ( minus the fumble ).
We are gonna need both as the year goes on. Both averaged over 5 yac today.

Pouncey is able to do things at C that Satele can't.

I'll take the PB.

WV, I have to admit that "cornfed" meme was an instant hit from day one, lol.

Never gets old. CORNFED, lol.

Today watching the game it showed a wide-screen shot of Wilfork and I yelled CORNFED!!!! "That's the death of countless cornfields there, folks!"

The waitress died laughing and so did everyone else. WV and cornfed: timeless, lol.

I think he was only out when he needed a breather or was hurt. At one point he suffered a stinger and missed a few series.

I'm calling bull****. I saw good run blocking and a starting RB who can actually move the damn football out there today. You're going to tell me that running well inside against Vince Wilfork behind our backup center is something you can poo-poo?

I feel very good about what we saw today from the rushing offense.

This is the NFL, the other guys get paid too. If you think you are going to see huge holes like we saw today every week you my friend are in for a rude surprise. Most decent teams have good running days from time to time, but they don't happen game after game. Well not unless you are living in the 1970s watching Csonka and Kick. Our running game will be better than last year, but we didn't reinvent the wheel.
Just keep in mind the old saying, "you are never as good as you think you are after a win, nor as bad as you think you are after a loss".

We need to win more. Everyone is enjoying each other. For the most part lol.
