The Pats will blitz the crap out of the Phins on MNF

I'm actually looking forward to teams blitzing us this year. Without Henning Chad won't be switching the play to max protect, he's actually going to call a new play to attack what they're doing. He did it against Tampa Bay and I'm anxious to see how well he does in the regular season. Belichick is very good at disguising what he does but I'm not sure how well he can do that in the 4-3 like he did in the 3-4. He might show blitz and bring the OLB and drop the DE into coverage....good luck with that if the DE is going to try and cover Reggie Bush out of the backfield. Bring a safety up to blitz and leave the middle of the field open for Fasano or a quick slant to BMarsh...I'm OK with that too.

It's a whole new world when teams blitz against us and we're not going max protect with one or two receivers running routes.
I am guessing that Billicheat will be spying Reggie with a Safety.

Bring on the blitz I say. Bring on Mayo and the more aggressive scheme for him this year. Henne can handle it all the better with Bush back there. Some nice screens and quick check downs. Can envision Gates out there on a quick route, where he turns on the burners and is gone cause they were blitzing and others were too worried about what Bush was doing.....I will venture to say we have at least 2 big scoring plays off of them sending a big blitz at Chad. IF they do it too much it will blow up in their face.

If anything I believe we will score more points this year and make things better.

This will be a great game that I see being one of two things.....very close and it goes to whoever has the ball last, or we beat them by 2TD's. I really don't see them blowing us out, we are just far more competitive this year.

I don't see either team getting blown out or beat by more than 2 TDs. I think it will be a single digit game one way or the other.

Not a shocker but this OL better be ready. Jake coming back from having a gimpy leg all summer, Columbo's notoriety for being a turnstile, Carey being out of shape, Pouncey a wet behind the ears rookie... You gotta think Belichick blitzes from all directions for this game. Will the Phins spread out 5WR? Max protect?

They do that and I want to change my vote to Phins win by a Landslide!!! That will play right into Henne's "currently" most comfortable zone and Reggie-Fasano and Bess will eat them up alive and I'd expect to see a few Bomb's completed to Gate's and Marshall too! Go Fins!!!!!

one thing we are gonna need to do is throw the ball on first down...spread em out show em 3 and 4 wr single back sets and in some cases take the te off the field and attack them...the only concern there is henne's gonna have to make quick decisions with the ball cause he's not gonna have much help in pass pro especially on the right side...might have to keep fasano on the field to help colombo a lot...not that the pats have world beaters as pass rushers...they scheme their pass rush...its not high end talent

completely agree, this would be a problem last year. now a quick slant(an unknown play to Henning) to Gates could turn ugly in a hurry for them

I don't see why the Pats would blitz at all. When you go up against a bad O line you are better off just letting your front four beat them straight up and dropping 7 into coverage. They will blitz occasionally, but if they are smart they won't sell out.

I hope they do blitz all night......big plays come from blitzing....dink and dunk them all night and then catch em man up with Gates and thats all she wrote.....

Exactly. It's not only Reggie Bush that gets me pumped, it's the combination of him and Gates. To beat the pats one of the things that we have to do is make them pay for their aggressive blitzing defense. I'm inclined to think that Henne connects deep at least once Monday night.

yep you do henne a favor when you give him single coverage looks...and thats why i don't think they'll do it much...sit back and attack anything underneath and wait for henne to lose patience and to try and force some things

Would certainly be my gameplan as well.

I dont see the Pats blitzing us much at all. Belichick is way too smart for that. Everyone in the league knows that Henne actually does pretty well against the blitz. Thats why he typically performs well against the Jests.

The Jests blitz all day everyday. Thats just what they do. Thats how their team is built. Thats why the put so much emphasis on great play from the CBs. They need great corners because their front 7 just isnt good enough to get pressure without sending 5 or 6 guys on every passing down.

The Pats on the other hand do not have a strong secondary. They also just loaded up on some power guys on the DL who can generate pressure and are bulky enough to try and stifle the rushing attack. Look for them to drop 6 and 7 guys on the reg. Thats how they have always played it against us and I dont look for that to change. As bad as our OL has looked, why shouldnt they feel like they can generate pressure just rushing 4 guys? Colombo and Carey better be ready for those beasts like Wilfork and Haynesworth. If they are able to get pressure just rushing 4, it could be a long evening for Henne with 7 guys in coverage and still having to contend with pressure in his face. They had success doing that to him last year and that was without the additions they made on the DL.

I would. Columbum can't pass protect to save his life.

But one thing the Pats have is they don't have a dominant pass rusher.

The Patrios pass rush is not very good, although they do like to blitz the safeties at times. I'm no too worried about pass rush.

They might try it once or twice but they don't want reggie catching a screen pass and taking it to the house!!!!!!!!!!
