The Steal of the Draft?

Book it.. Future Hall Of Fame!!

This board is amazing some times. Hasn't had his pads on and he is headed to Canton. I say he doesn't start a game this year. I think he will have a solid OJ McDuffie type career, but to compare him to Steve Smith, is like comparing James to Orlando Pace.

Whose been passing out the 5 Hour Energy??

Introducing Finheaven's newest court Jester...his sole goal is to find the negative in anything and piggy back on what the proper trolls say....Thank you picking up Sho's discarded torch...run hrd my friend, run hard...

4.77 is a number that will have a significant impact on our team. I don't see 4.77 on the tape.

If you are going to slap a player shouldn't use his real 40 time?

It's not like the guy is going to play his entire NFL career with a bad hammy.

Miami could use an O.J. McDuffie on their team. I remember when he led the league in receptions one year with 90 I think. Whoever made the Anquan Boldin/O.J. McDuffie hybrid comparison was dead on with Landry. I remember when another tough as nails receiver came out of Louisiana a few years back that the Bears took in the 3rd round by the name of Marty Booker. Landry's ceiling is much like that of Marty Booker, which is a pro-bowl player.

Landry was a 5-star recruit coming out of high school. I always wished he would've came to Alabama. I've watched him every step of the way since he stepped foot on campus in Baton Rouge. Always thought he was going to be an excellent pro. He was going to be a 1st round pick until he didn't time well at the combine due to the hamstring. I'm going to say that he does start a game this year. Honestly, I think he's going to be one of the best players Miami has drafted in the past 25 years. Anybody doubting him hasn't watched him play. That's a fact.

Just watching him catch the ball....it never touches his body until he tucks it to run...he snatches it out the air. I posted an article which referred to him as Mr. Natural...not only referring to his hands but that he is a natural football player...

Absolutely. It's the immense hand size combined with natural ball skills. He has hands the size of a 6'5" receiver or tight end. No receiver in this draft surpassed Landry's 10 1/4" hands. Not even the 6'5" Kelvin Benjamin (equaled 10 1/4") or Mike Evans (9 5/8"). Hand size is just so critical for skill position players that make a living with their hands. It's why Landry has the unique ability to play much bigger than 5'11"... which ain't exacty small to begin with.

He's so tough and physical. Plays with tremendous purpose and a great kid off the field. He'll instill some much needed toughness to Miami's receivers, and locker room in general. Also bring some intelligence and football IQ. The reason he was able to be featured some in the slot at LSU instead of Beckham to begin with is because he reads defenses better and has a higher football IQ than Beckham... and I'm not knocking him because I like Odell Beckham too. It's jus the reality. Both are going to be good pros in my opinion, but Landry has traits and intangibles that are innate and uncoachable on the football field.

Slim do you see him beating out gibson and Mathews for the slot as a rookie?

I think he's subject to beat out more than those two sooner rather than later. I think he'll be #2 no later than next season.

However, the key to this isn't always talent or who's better. Money, contracts, etc. are unfortunately also factors in terms of who gets on the field in the NFL. I despise that aspect of it. I'm not convinced that Miami's staff is one that will always put the best player on the field. They'd have to prove that to me if I were you. I mean, there's just no way that Rishard Matthews was worse than Legadu Naanee in the slot after they signed Naanee. He was atrocious.... yet Miami started him anyway. They could've picked a guy out of the stands and been no worse off.

The positive here is that Jeff Ireland is gone. Hopefully Dolphin fans won't have to continue to deal with that type of stubborness that doesn't benefit the team, but instead is just a pointless exercise in putting off the inevitable and admitting Ireland's mistake. This was always the case with several, several players on Miami's roster during that regime. These guys cannot follow that pattern if they want to be successful.

I totally agree with Slimms eval. Of Landry...I think he will be a great pro and I do not see anything but injury keeping this guy off the field.

I'm not slighting Gibson here...he is a serviceable player...he is not special.

Landry will be special...and the 40 yard dash can be so deceiving when evaluating receivers.

I wasn't Gibson's biggest fan coming in, but last year he proved very reliable at moving the chains, getting proper depth, finding space, and coming down with the ball even in traffic. IMHO, if Gibson continue us to do that and stays healthy he will keep his starting spot.

Remember, we are sort of Green Bay South. They draft a WR every year nd Co tinge to integrate them into the team. They have wonderful depth and everyone knows their responsibility, runs good routes, and concentrates on catching the ball before running. Landry fits this type of player and will settle into our system if he can get open. We are finally developing quality depth.

Last year when we lost underneath targets Keller and Gibson we were lost at sea. We need this depth. Landry will get his share of snaps, and surpass Matthews in the pecking order by years end.

On a related note, Green Bay selected the developmental WR I had hoped we would get, Jeff Janis. He is the opposite of Landry at 6'3 200 lbs and runs a 4.38 forty, 37.5" vertical, but rounds his routes and isn't as quick. Still, he has a lot of good tape and raw talent.

When I go back and watch film of Landry and then watch film of Anquan Boldin I see very similar receivers....they both possess great hands and adjust to the ball very well.

Boldin is thicker and a bit bigger....but Landry clearly looks quicker to me and I believe runs better routes.
