This May Be Lame But ...

I normally watch the game alone. BUt my wife is allowed to watch if she only asks those silly questions during commercial and halftime. Like why didn't they go for it on 4th and 20? It can get annoying so she has learned to time her questions for the breaks. every sunday morning I get up and start the smoker. I cook 2 slabs of ribs one to eat during the Phins games and the other for the sunday night game. I usally wear the orange hat for away games and the Aqua one for home games. I always have my suction dart guns at the ready if I feel the need to shoot the t.v. All of my friends and family know not to call during the game period. I don't answer it regardless. I don't think I am crazy or need a shrink or anything like. I just have a routine and that is what I like to do.Ok after reading what I had just wrote I have decided that i may have a slight case of obsessive compulsive disorder but I'm not "monk"or anything so I am ok

I'll even miss a game completely if somewhere in my twisted mind I convince myself that it may help the team win.

That's sick but I love it! :D

i think it's kind of interesting that a lot of us watch alone.

My friends know better then to come over and watch the Phins with me...

I usually get a few people that come over AFTER the Phins to watch the afternoon games (seeing as I'm the only one that ever has Sunday Ticket).

I NEVER consume alcohol during a Phins game either...I want to see everything. I just get blasted on coffee.

I'm like Muck...if we won the previous week I wear exactly the same thing the next week.

I have sat in the same spot in the same chair for the better part of 5 years...accept when I am pacing which happens more often then not.

The T.V. does not move off the channel the game is on when the Phins are playing...no surfing during commercials ever.

All communication to the outside world is off during the game. No phones allowed. My g/f has learned that there is also no talking during the game unless I instigate the conversation (this conversation usually consists of me *****|ng about something).

I'm usually a very miserable human being on game day...win or lose I always find a negative...and it will be this way until I witness a World Championship...I MIGHT be happy after we won it all...

Damn I love this game...

I watch alone as well….. I get too emotional during the games. When they score, I’m loud, scream with joy. When they are down, I’m the last person you want to be around. When they lose…..oh boy, you don’t want to be around me for a couple of days……if it’s a tough/close loss……you don’t wanna be around me until the next game!

last year was tough.....after we went like 0-6, I started losing that passion for the game, it just wasn't fun anymore...........thank God Saban and company are here, and the outlook is bright....my passion is definitely coming back! Im psyched for the season to get on the ball!

It did happen a couple of times last year.

Didn't help though.

I came to the conclusion that it was not me, it was the o-line. :)

If the Phins won the week before, I'll wear the same clothes from the previous week

 I thought I was the only one who did that.

and the QB, the kicker, the coach, the RB, and the list could go on forever.

I dunno about you guys, but when we are losing at the half, doesnt it seem like it takes hours before the second half starts?

I'd like whoever reads this to describe the typical experience watching a Dolphins game.

I'm more comfortable alone without anyone of adverse faith or weak of faith.
I watch alone because people give up too easily on the Phins if they're behind and I'm big on the Power of Belief at work. I don't turn it off until it's completely over.

I don't construct shrines ( I used to place a Miami hat on top of tele.) and I hate food while I'm playing unless if it's a couple of oranges. I feel that any other pleasure dulls my rooting ability.

I will try to avoid arguments / fights before the game.

The phone doesn't get answered and if I know who calls during a game I will deliberately avoid them for some time, knowing that they know when to call and when not to call, with respect to Dolphin's games.

I don't like to get on any one player or become negative during a game and the only thing I consume is a large coffee while watching. Beer or anything else that might impair my intuitive flow - not good.

What's your experience like while watching week in / week out a Miami Dolphins game.

Oh, and I can't forget to include the commercials. Commercials and places they bring you in between play are completely part of it all. Life is great.

OK, tee off.

Well, I have no preset "conditions" for watching the Fins games, but usually everybody including my dogs (except my nephew, who is as big a fan as I am) leaves the room because I like to act as if I were at the game...jumping up and down, yelling, booing sometimes, etc....I'm not really a big beer drinker, preferring to stick with my iced tea, but love food to watch the games with too....I don't go to many games as I live out of state now, (thank goodness for directv). I had season tickets for about 15 yrs and did the tailgate things and all that, but now have to watch most games on tv...

I can watch games with other Dolphins fans or with the fans of the team we are playing.

I hate watching them with fans of another team not involved in the game who need to throw in their .2 cents on something totally irrelevant to what is going on in THIS game.

Right on. That's another reason I hate watching games at bars, besdies the smoke. The more people, the more chances you'll have allegiances to other teams. And the more "experts" who will point out the weaknesses in my team that I have known about since the offseason, further raising my blood pressure and deteriorating my game experience.

No, I site there with my cats on my lap, (unless I go into a tirade, which causes them to scatter, only returning when they sense calm again) homebrewed beer by my side, the remote.

This year I have a laptop, so I will stay on FH while the game is on.

:D

I generally prefer to watch the game at a sports-bar with a big crowd of other 'Fins fans. I'll usually be found at the Upper Deck Profile on East Whitaker Mill Rd. in Raleigh. There's something of a Dolphins fan club that meets there for the games.

I usually have a double order of buffalo wings and an order of spicy fries with melted cheese to eat during the game. If I'm in the mood for alcohol, I'll drink a few Sam Adams', otherwise I'll drink Pepsi or water. How much beer I drink tends to depend on how well or poorly the Fins are playing. I drank a lot last season.

I'm usually pretty vocal during the games.. if we score or something goes well, I'll be screaming and jumping around, high-fiving people and ****. If something bad happens (like, oh, I dunno, Jay Fielder throws a pick that's returned for a TD) I'll be the guy standing up yelling "YOU SUCK FIEDLER, YOU F#@KING SUCK, YOU SAD SACK OF F#@KING ****!!!!" I used up a lot of energy the last couple of seasons, yelling at Wannstedt and Fiedler.

Once a couple of years ago, we were playing the Bills, and something happened near the end of the game (an INT or fumble or something) and I got really pissed, slammed my fist into the table, and somehow sent my glass of Pepsi flying across the room, making a huge mess. I almost got thrown out of the bar for that. The owner is Buffalo Bills fan to boot. Not sure why a bunch of Dolphins fans picked a bar owned by a Bills fan to hang out at, but hey. He's reasonably nice to us (guess it's "business first" with this guy) as long as we're eating and drinking beer.

As for fans of other teams; I don't usually have a problem with them. Most years the Dolphins are successful enough that they can't talk too much smack - last year excluded. And there's no big contigent of fans from arch-rivals like the Pats, Jets or Bills, who hang out at the same bar. The other two big crowds we get are Steelers fans (why in Raleigh NC, I have no idea) and Carolina Panthers fans, with a few miscellaneous fans of various other teams.
This place is usually pretty relaxed, I don't think I've ever seen a fight in this bar. Actually, the closest thing to a fight I ever saw was between two 'Fins fans. They were both 'Fins fans, but were die-hard rivals in some other sport (baseball I think: I think one was a Yankess fan and the other was a Red Sox fan) and they started jawing with each other during a 'Fins game a couple of years ago. I thought they were gonna come to blows, but they finally settled down.

Oh and two years ago, I was always wearing my Ricky Williams #34 jersey. Last year I wore the same jersey, turned inside out, and a paper-bag with eyeholes cut out. This year I guess I'll be back to just the Williams jersey and my Dolphins hat.

The phone doesn't exist on Sundays, unless its a buddy callin up to talk smack.
If his team is playin the Fins, and were down, I'll pick up.
If were up, I'll let him roost, and respond at the half.
I don't care if anyone comes over, as they never stay very long once they become my sounding board.
I don't bet on Fin games, typically the stress level is already high enough, and I don't need a coronary attack.
I usually end up standing two feet from the screen, throughout the game, sitting down at commercials, and halftime.
If were up, and experiencing one of those godforsaken meltdowns, where a rival is rallying back, I won't think twice about shutting it down, and shifting to radio.
Whatever it takes to break the kharmic flow.
Sometimes it works, somtimes it doesn't.
Seems theres a ghost out there, that works a wicked hex.
