Three reasons the Dolphins should scare Patriots fans

The rules don't hurt us the way I see it. Our corners aren't these huge physical guys who manhandle WRs. Our DBs , Grimes, Finnegan and Davis in particular excell at playing the ball. They have good ball skills and like to play the ball vs the WR. That's how you have to play corner now. Beat the WR to the ball

yeah but only prob was Davis did just that, got his hand in front to knock the ball down and they call PI and he barely touched his guy. anything can be construed a PI or holding now. very subjective. they say it will get better but not the first game of season IMO.

Mike Wallace is exactly right. They dont call it for us. Nor will they against NE.

The area of concentration for the refs is intend to free up offenses against old school DB's like Richard Sherman and Darrelle Revis. It will hurt teams that play physical secondaries like the Seahawks, Jets and Patriots.

The Dolphins play predominantly off man coverage, so this area of rule concentration should help us. Also, being a WCO running without a FB, it helps our offense as well.

As for Finnegan, he has been getting a lot of flags for years now ... and I don't really expect that to change much. Will it cost us a game? Yeah maybe, but it is just as likely to provoke some dumb WR into imploding and gifting us a victory. Finnegan's mouth is in a class occupied only by him and Steve Smith.

3 things we already know, but good to see a Boston paper with a positive article about the Fins..

1. The Dolphins can get after the quarterback. Some of Tom Brady’s worst games have come against the Dolphins, mostly because Miami has always been stout up front, ever since Jason Taylor arrived 17 years ago. Cameron Wake is coming off a bit of a down year with 8½ sacks but is still one of the best two or three pure pass rushers in the game, and he warrants consistent double-teams. Olivier Vernon benefitted from all the attention put on Wake last year and had a breakout season of 11½ sacks, and he is primed for an even bigger season. And the Dolphins get good interior pressure with Randy Starks, Jared Odrick, and newcomer Earl Mitchell.

2. Ryan Tannehill is developing with his weapons. Tannehill’s rookie season was a blur, and last year he had to work to get on the same page with newcomers Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson. But Tannehill now has two years under his belt, and has all the familiar faces around him: Wallace, Gibson, Charles Clay, Brian Hartline, and Lamar Miller. Wallace didn’t quite have the breakout season Miami fans wanted, but the Fins return three players with 65-plus catches and 750 receiving yards. And Clay, who had 759 yards and six touchdowns last year at tight end, is on the verge of becoming a bona fide star.

3. The heat. No, not the team recently spurned by LeBron James. The heat — as in the weather — is a great home-field advantage for the Dolphins and is no joke. General manager Dennis Hickey came off the practice field Monday dripping with sweat, and that was just from standing on the sideline. The humidity punches you in the face right when you get off the plane in South Florida, and makes life hell for football players, especially at 1 p.m. on a Sunday early in September. The Patriots lost to the Dolphins in Miami last December, and don’t be surprised if they wilt in the heat this time.

Haven't made the playoffs in years and you're talking about scaring the Pats.

Stop with this Belichick nonsense. He's a great defensive mind. And that's all he ever was, until they blindly LUCKED into Brady. Thats it. You could put plenty of coaches with Brady and they'd be just as successful. If he can continue this winning once Brady retires, then ill call him a genius. But far as im concerned, he took a team built by Parcells and lucked into Brady and rode the gravy train.

I like our chances to surprise them in the first game because we have not fully revealed all our offensive plays. They don't exactly know what to expect since there is not much film on what the new offense likes to run. However, I never fail to fear what Tom Brady can do to us. I am sure he can have fans in the stands be his Wr's and still drop 3 TD's or more on our defense. Every year we think we have finally caught up to them..and every year they win 10+ games and make the playoffs and we finish being average.

Not trying to say your wrong but remember Tom Brady?
Bill Billicheat?
And they have a great nucleus even when they bring in a scrubbs.
Until their Coach and QB combo is gone their fans will never worry about Miami.
Lastly, they always make the Playoffs.. Funny while I was typing this, 104.5 the zone mention Brady and Bill are the winningest tandem in Nfl history now..

But I like the way you are thinking for what it's worth..

sorry typing while driving

dude, dont kill people

i say this all the time, but now with the new emphasis on DB contact I wish pass interference and illegal contact calls were reviewable. lets hold these zebras accountable on a nation stage for their bogus biased calls

Either that or have pass interference be only a 10 -15 yard penalty instead of at the spot of the foul . Honestly at this point in this preseason you're better off taking 3 deep shots in a row, because you are likely to get pass interference of some sort on one

make no mistake, the Fins are getting no love from local sports radio up here. They have already chalked this up as a W. I'll be heading down for the game and hope we kick some Patsy's arse!

If we were them for the last 15 years, I'd be the same way. I'm sure they were that sure when they came down last year too :)

BB drafted Brady.

The Phins, and 30 other teams passed on him 6 times.

Do you know how many "Parcell's guys" have rings from the Pats 3 Super Bowl titles? You might want to check.

31 teams passed on him 5 times, including the Pats. But ya he drafted him and man...6th round, 1st-ballot HoF, great QB...there's NO WAY there's not a ton of luck involved there. Nobody, including BB, ever expected that. Amazing.

But do you know how many "Belichick guys" have super bowl rings with the Pats after getting caught cheating? You probably don't have to check.
