Todd McShay - "Andrew Luck's best fit would be in MIAMI

I would trade entire draft for Luck. If he's half as good a projected the way we've wasted draft picks it's a no brainer, if the team with the #1 pick was willing to do it.

I might be missing something, but is Henne the reason why we are losing now? The problem is more deep rooted than just the QB.

i don't think it matters if we start 0-5...if we start even 1-3 we're done...we can beat cleveland all day it won't matter...we start 1-3 we're done...unless there's an awful lot of mediocrity in the league which i'm just not seeing playin out right now...and if jake long does make it til we are mathmatically eliminated which at this rate will be before thanksgiving...we should shut him down for the rest of the year...shut down jake and you'll start adding checks in the l column faster than you can count...

honestly guys...i know this team doesn;t have enough to do anything in the playoffs hell even make em...i don't even care if we win a game this year if there's a carrot like andrew luck waiting for us...get a new coach like cowher and add an andrew luck and then my friends we are cooking with gas...

this season really is a waste of time for us...i'm already ready for it to be over...call me a bad fan call me whatever you want but i've seen this song and dance before and there's no miracle for us in 2011...we're done...2 weeks in done

and if you don't think that if miami was to secure the #1 pick in the 2012 draft established coaches like cowher aren't gonna line up to get this job and coach that kid and have him be their meal ticket for the next decade plus...you got another thing coming...there will be MAJOR interest in this job if that kind of qb prospect is right there for the taking by us...major...and ross will open the wallet to the toon of $8 mil plus per for that big name big draw sexy coach...book it

The problem with that is I can't see Luck wanting to sit behind Manning for more than maybe a year. So if Manning is healthy before the draft and wants to play for about four or five more years, I can't see the Colts taking Luck because he is going to want to play a lot of sooner than that. Luck would probably start next year on most of the teams that draft him. The only way I see the Colts drafting him is if they knew Manning was pretty much done at that point.

A good point.. who knows how his neck problem is going to turn out though. To me it's have a few more years with Manning who's coming off a (basically) season ending neck surgery, or go with the guy who, if he pans out, will lead the Colts to 10+ years of success. Of course there's always passing on Luck and seeing if another great QB comes around, but as long as Manning is healthy, they wont be picking top 3 anytime soon.

Colts will take Luck #1 if they have the pick, bank on it. Luck will sit the first year and they'll gauge where Manning is. If Manning is back to his old form, then they can trade 1 of them for a King's ransom. You never pass on a player of this calibre, I don't care how good Peyton is(or was) but he's old. Packers are another example of this. That safe-pick idiot Ireland would probably be the only one to pass on Luck in that situation.

if there's doubt about manning going forward polian will absolutely take andrew luck...i read something that said if the colts cut manning after this year they wouldn't even take a big hit on the cap cause somehow they got a clause in his new 5 year $90 mil contract he just signed...

i think polian the personnel guy is overrated but he's no dummy...andrew luck like qb prospects come around once a decade...he'll jump all over him if peytons dicey...hell he might jump all over him no matter what...it wouldn't shock me...

and with the way these new rookie deals are set up the #1 overall pick is getting like $22 mil guaranteed...you break that down over a 5 year contract and its like a little over $4 mil per...teams can take that on no problem even if they already have a franchise qb...luck likely goes to whoever gets the #1 pick regardless imo...

we better start praying for some bad teams to start winning some games...

Yeah that's basically what I was getting at earlier.

Gotta get the number 1 pick, and somehow no matter how bad we are this year i have a feeling we will mess that up too

I concur. Watch it come down to the final game of the season and all this team needs to do is lose and yet for some crazy reason, they win. Go figure!

You know what wouldn't be fair...

Indy getting Luck and he turns out to be as good as advertised.

WTF.

Manning then Luck....

Talk about being....'lucky'....
It's more about acknowledging the importance of the position, which is something we have not over the past decade. We've had plenty of chances. What do we have instead? A good half offensive line and a running ba...wait, he's in Philly now. "We can just take care of that little hole in the second round."

i never root against the fins no matter what.

however, if what your scenario is, last game of the season and if we lose that means we get the number 1 overall pick, i will hope we lose, and i know we are playing the jets. because if we are in the position at the last week, that means we have already stunk it up miserably, might as well finish the job, then win one meaningless game and not get the most promising prospect in years.

however, i highly doubt that by week 17 we will only have 1 or 2 wins under out belt, which is the amount of wins we will need to have to get the number 1 pick most likely.
