Todd McShay - "Andrew Luck's best fit would be in MIAMI

In 2008, we weren't no offensive juggernaut . . . we played mistake free football, caused a few turnovers and the defense held up for the most part. If the defense plays like it did in 2009 . . . we aren't going to win many games.

Looks like Luck is going to be in Kansas City next year. They suck and have a brutal schedule as well.

The Dolphins must lose that game at Kansas City to have a shot of finishing with a worst record than the Chiefs. I don't see the Chiefs winning many games at all. The Chiefs also play at the Colts, that will be a huge game in determining draft position. I think for Miami to get the #1 pick in the draft, they can't finish better than 1-15. There is too much competition this year for finishing with the worst record.

I don't see how we get Luck if we don't have the #1 overall pick, unless a team like Carolina happens to get it. Everyone says Luck is the best QB prospect coming out of college since Peyton. Other teams don't think like the Dolphins and they value the QB position. They're not gonna take a tackle over Andrew Luck.

I could see a trade up scenario though with Carolina if they get the #1 overall pick. I'd give them whatever they want...picks + players. A couple first rounders to start off with, Jake Long, and more picks. I wouldn't care what they gave up to get Luck. It's been 12 years since Marino left, and not ONE first round pick spent on QB. That's beyond pathetic.

Has Luck even said he was going to declare for the draft next year? I think he has another year of eligibility.

Would it be wrong to bench our entire first string for the rest of the season, play Devlin at QB and run the Wildcat with John Jerry to ensure the 1st overall pick?

I doubt CAR would finish in last place b/c Newton is gonna keep them competitive. It's probably gonna be IND, KC or SEA and all of those teams would take Luck without even listening to trade offers.

The only scenario for a trade up that I could imagine would be maybe JAX. They could be bad enough to finish last/first but Gabbert could show enough promise for them to pass on Luck and trade down.

We'd have to pay out the arse - think our 2012 and 2013 1st rounders and an elite player like Marshall or Long - but this could be a possibility.

He technically does have another year, but he would have gotten his degree as well. He is in his 4th year as a RS junior and he will be losing his LT as well. I think there is little doubt he is gone. I know many said that last year as well, but I think alot of that had to do with lockout speculation and him just wanting to finish school. He is coming out . . . guaranteed.

I think Indy can be talked into a trade. But yea KC is going Andrew Luck and Seattle is going Matt Barkley . . . so its gonna be tough.

I think IND would take Luck for sure. Manning is done and old now anyway.

Hardly think Peyton Manning is done, if anything, dude is gonna be hungry when he returns. He has records to break and he wants another ring. Don't get me wrong, the deal needs to be right for Indy to give up Luck . . . but I could see them trading the pick if the offer is right. Indy would much rather keep him. The other 2 teams . . . outside of the owner paying the bill to run the team for the next 10 years . . . they won't give up that pick for anything.

I read an article a few months ago where he said this was going to be his last year in college.

He does. But he staid in College this year so he could graduate. I guess in theory he could still come back and take 3 joke classes and play 1 more year, but I don't see why he would do that.

He won't . . . . it would just be extremely funny to watch a team tank and see him do that though.

He wanted his degree, he knows his life is about to get hectic in the NFL . . . he knows he can win the Heisman this year and has an outside shot at the NC. He was uncertain about the lockout and it made sense to return. He isn't from a broken home, he has money and he is a smart kid. He is going to the NFL next year.

Would be funny no doubt, but Matt Barkley would be a nice consolation prize. Barkley would be the consensus #1 in most drafts, this is just one of those crazy years where a player who's as close to can't-miss is sitting there. Luck is who I want obviously but I'd be just as stoked if we got Barkley.
