Top 6 Reasons why Matt Flynn would be our best option at QB

hm, Kevin Kolb isn't quite the measuring stick for me. he didn't do much in the games he played as an Eagle. the situation reminds me a lot more of Matt Schaub, who actually looked pretty darn good when he got a chance and he, too, only had 2 NFL starts before being traded.

You are basing that on what? You think Mike Shanahan isn't going to be interested in signing Flynn? Matthew Schaubb and Kevin Kolb both got big money to sign with a team as their starting Qb, both didn't have very many more starts than Flynn. Once again, not to beat a dead horse but the market will determine how much he will be paid and it will be alot because that's just the way it is. If you stack up Luck, RGIII and Flynn all next to each other based on their body of work there is no reason to think that Flynn doesn't have as good of a chance as any of them to become a successful NFL QB and they will all be paid that way based on thei respective positions I.e. draft vs free agency. Just watch and see

Even Mike Shanahan isn't going to offer the kid Brady money.

You really think they will pay him in the top tier? If that was the case don't you think the Pack would franchise him or sign and then trade him?

I don't think the Redskins are a player here because Shanahan loves the vertical game and wants a strong armed QB. I think they are more inclined to get into the RGIII sweepstakes, just a gut feeling. Seattle and Cleveland will most likely be the competition for Flynn but the one advantage many overlook is the comfort Flynn may have with Philbin.

Kolb's contract is backloaded with 21 mil guaranteed. Flynn getting in the area of that is not bad. Much rather pay that money to Flynn then pay top dollars and picks to get into the RGIII sweepstakes.

If Flynn takes us to the promise land, money is a non-issue. Its worth a shot, especially if Philbin is high on him.

Why are people so against brining this kid in? They would rather trade up and use multiple draft picks to get rg3 who's is a beast but hasn't played one down in the nfl. This kid Flynn has won big games and has played in the nfl so to me he's more proven than a rookie who. Hasn't done crap in the pros, and if u go into stats and goals in college pat white had an amazing college career too...I say bring this kid in, philbin knows what he can offer and he won't bring in a kid he doesn't trust because his career on the line so he will have to pick a qb who will win.

Because most fans want "their guy" instead of looking at the best options for the team.

I believe what Kyndig said in his post about "You're going to have to pay cause franchise QB's cost money" is right on. Flynn is first going to sign somewhere that he feels he's the leader for the starting job. Not that he can't lose it during training camp, and sure, that's a risk when you pay that kind of money, but, I firmly trust if Philbin believes him to be worth that kind of money, than he is. But we can't NOT pay him the money he's going to command if we want a "franchise QB". Which i'm not saying he is, but, trying cheap "stopgap" guys behind center has been part of our problem. We've been trying to use a band-aid on a gushing wound...again, if Philbin believes Flynn to be worth the $$, I trust his judgement and am all for finally investing in the position and saying, we believe you're our guy for hopefully the next decade..

FLYNN is not established as a "franchise QB". Deal with it! He MIGHT be one; and he MIGHT NOT. PHILBIN's input matters. But it'd be foolish to give FLYNN franchise QB money. I don't care WHAT the so-called "market" dictates. Give FLYNN a solid contract, w/lots of additional money attainable by performing at a high level. If he can perform, he gets bigbucks. If not, no.

What about Flynn's 5 interceptions in those 2 games. I don't know about you, but that is a lot of picks. Green Bay also produced Brian Brohm.

Really shows how much you know. How about he never threw more then one pcik per game. Plus 2 of those picks was him just heeving the ball up for grabs before halftime. Think before you speak

Again why is money an issue? It's not our money, it's Ross's money. That's like people complaining about the cost of steak when they are on a good per diem.

Your six reasons are really not reasons at all:

1. Joe Philbin. He is no doubt intimately familiar with Matt Flynn's strengths and weaknesses.... SO WHAT. I have no doubt that Sparano was familiar with Henne, did that make him good?

2. Green Bay has a history of producing Quality QBs.... So because they've had a few good QB's means every QB they draft will be a star? NOT.

3. Aaron Rodgers. I mean, what did Kevin Kolb learn sitting behind Donovan McNabb..... IF sitting behind a player made them great, then it would be easy to groom QB's. How is Matt Cassell working out?

4. Offensive system continuity. If he comes here he will be set up to continue his development in a system he has been in since 2008. I wouldn't underestimate the value of that...... The Jets have had the same coaching staff and offensive system for a few years. How's that working out for Sanchize?

5. Accuracy. Granted, it's limited action in the pros..... EXACTLY - TWO games doesn't mean SQUAT!

These are the reasons why I think that Matt Flynn is not another Kevin Kolb and why I think we should aggressively pursue him. You can't predict these things, but I bet he's going to be great........ I beg to differ. I watched his six TD game highlights over and over. He doesn't look like a big time QB to me. He threw a lot of wounded duck passes and looked like he had a weak arm IMO. His WR's made some great plays and the PACK whipped Detroit, not Flynn.

I wouldn't mind the Phins bringing him in for competition if they don't over pay for him, but i definitely wouldn't give him Kolb type compensation when he has done NOTHING to prove his is a franchise QB.

I think a lot of fans on here would agree with you that Flynn should be brought in as competition for Moore. I think most of the disagreement and objection to Flynn is the automatic belief by some that Flynn is going to be a franchise QB just because he came from the Pack and had two good games.
