Top 6 Reasons why Matt Flynn would be our best option at QB

Uh, yeah, thats why you hired the guy to turn around the franchise. Would you prefer to leave the player personell choices to Jeff Ireland?
Last time I checked ireland is in charge of player personell. They hired Philbin to coach the team.

I want to bring in RGIII (hopefully a nice draft day trade up) AND Flynn. Then have Moore as our 3rd stringer. Am I greedy? Yes ,but I am also a Miami fan and want to increase our chances of having a star QB.

Flynn is very intelligent and I like him a lot. Intelligence is so overlooked at the QB position, but it means so much.

He will be the best QB available. That is why we would get him. It is simple if the coach doesn't think Moore is the right guy than we will get Flynn. Moore has more than earned the backup QB spot.

#8 he has had only one good game. So the fins are going to give this guy a big payday without any body of work? I don't know
The thing I don't understand about comments like this is that many people (not saying you) would rather bet the farm of draft picks to trade up and get Luck or RG3 ... while the rookie cap helps with their contracts, they would still be ~25 million+ where Flynn will likely be ~40 million+ but not cost draft picks (unless the Packers tag him). Luck and RG3 have done nothing yet, at least Flynn has some experience as well as the familiarity with the coach.

Definitely read somewhere on finheaven that the seahawks GM is the one who drafted flynn and would actively pursue him. I remember the article saying that after the season, all the seattle media was doing was talking about flynn. you have to think that other teams like the redskins, seahawks, oakland (inspite of palmer trade), browns, vikings, jaguars, will atleast be inquiring. i don't expect flynn to get 50 or 60 mil but i could see us throwing out a 5 year 35 mil contract with like 26 mil guarenteed. that to me means starter. if you get paid to be a starter you will be one first coming in.

also on an unrelated note, when philbin talked about qualities he's looking for in a QB he mentioned decision making, accuracy, to a degree arm strength (but made it obvious it wasn't so dire) and mobility. but he never mentioned leadership or toughness. though that was interesting

also i don't really see flynn getting 60 mil but who the hell knows. you'd think with philbin we might get some kind of "house" discount???

unfortunately, we need a whole bunch more than a qb to compete with matt moore. we are seriously void in o-line, secondary and pass rusher. we could probably use another big play wr. and we have NO depth at the positions i mentioned, and you have to have depth to get you through a long season and stay consistant.

player cost money and we have this lil thing in the nfl called the SALARY CAP!! we dont have an unlimited cash flow. we have a restricted cash flow.

there is a model in the nfl right now being victims of this very kind of thinking, the indianapolis colts! they spent MASSIVE MONEY on manning to keep him. an OBSCENE amount and they have not been able tp pay quality players to sign with them because of limited cap space and when manning went down? they had mediocre starters and NO depth on the roster and got a 2 win season for it!!

we are not in a position to shell out peyton manning type money, expecially to a 1 game phenom!!

we need to many other pieces. and we need to keep a few we have.

Dude, once again franchise qbs cost money full stop. So if you've got someone you think is one then two things: 1. There will be competition to sign his services and 2. The market will determine his value and cost. This is true regardless of what the position is.

Without a franchise qb the other positions almost don't matter, the past 12 years or so should have taught u that.

Regardless of what the colts r without manning, with him they were perennial contenders and even Super Bowl champions, what does that tell u?

FLYNN is not established as a "franchise QB". Deal with it! He MIGHT be one; and he MIGHT NOT. PHILBIN's input matters. But it'd be foolish to give FLYNN franchise QB money. I don't care WHAT the so-called "market" dictates. Give FLYNN a solid contract, w/lots of additional money attainable by performing at a high level. If he can perform, he gets bigbucks. If not, no.

Agree 100%. You pay Flynn a fair price to come in & compete. You don't throw starter's money at him & let him come in & start right away without competing. Look at Matt Moore's numbers over his final nine games. He finished the season 6-3, 15 Tds, 5 Ints, 61% completion. Over their final nine games that's better numbers than every starting QB not named Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Stafford, & Ryan, THAT'S IT. His numbers were better than Eli (16 TDs, 11 Ints, 58%, Rec 4-5), Big Ben (12 TDs, 8 Ints, 64%, Rec 7-2), & arguably Rivers (20 TDs, 9 Ints, 62%, Rec 4-5) over that time span.

Flynn put his numbers up against the 23rd ranked defense Lions defense this year & the 25th ranked Patriots defense last year. Flynn is only a year younger than Moore so it's not like he's an extremely young kid.

What about Flynn's 5 interceptions in those 2 games. I don't know about you, but that is a lot of picks. Green Bay also produced Brian Brohm.

where did u get that? he had 6tds and 2 interceptions agains the lions for 480 yards and 3 tds and 1 int vs the patriots for 251 yards, so umm thats 3 interceptions for the 2 games there one this season and the other last season. But then again thats 9 Tds vs those 3 int,,,not bad of a ratio either
