whatever the case, Sam is going nowhere this year. we have no depth at CB and he is #1 in this department with Surtain gone. and I don't see anyone wanting a $7m guy of his age unless they're looking for a superbowl run and need a gap filled...not philly, not NE, not Pitt...maybe Indy, but not sure what their cap situation is like.

:rofl3:

Just look into Tampa's game and you will know what i mean. A regular running game opens the gate and leaves sometime to pass (even AJ made good throws). With Ronnie and Ricky in the field we don't need Manning to deal the game.
If you are strong in your defense, all you will need is a regular offense.
I'm not happy with our CBs (included Sam) but i will trust in Saban to handle this.

With Saban's defensive emphasis on zone coverage and run support, Madison is really getting exposed. Sam hasn't tackled anyone yet on running plays and of the few big running plays against us during preseason, guess who they're running at? When Denver and their vaunted running game comes to town, we can only pray for 90 degree weather & 90% humidity. Obviously, Sam can still play and would be a great pickup for the right defense, but our quarterback situation is arguably the worst in the league. Rather than speculate, (ad nauseum) Feely or Frerotte. Nick this team needs a Quarterback!:D Madison has trade value. :yell: Let's do it, Nick.
