Trade Madison for a QB Now!

You know what..I was just thinking about this Cleo Lemon has looked awesome...

let's face it, the rules changes with regard to receiver contact beyond 5 yds hurts bump-n-run corners like Sam. they will never be as good as they were, never mind the fact he's getting slower with age.

whatever the case, Sam is going nowhere this year. we have no depth at CB and he is #1 in this department with Surtain gone. and I don't see anyone wanting a $7m guy of his age unless they're looking for a superbowl run and need a gap filled...not philly, not NE, not Pitt...maybe Indy, but not sure what their cap situation is like.

Enough with the Sam bashing!...He has re-structured his contract several times already for the betterment of the team and is one of the best CB's the Dolphins have ever had...If he has lost a step I haven't seen it...He is not being paid to tackle like Ray Lewis...He has been very durable over his entire career and deserves more respect than what I've seen in this thread. I did see him run right by a ball carrier in a pre-season game this year but he was blitzing at full speed and didn't realize the RB had the ball...he was trying to avoid being blocked by that RB...It just so happens that the guy gained about 50 yards on that run so everyone remembers it...I'm sure that Saban was all over him in the post-game film room on that one...But Saban knows how valuable Sam is in the secondary and would rather have him healthy for the regular season than have him injured in a pre-season game by sacrificing his body in a meaningless game.

Rivers has more value as QB than any CB.

As i see it, today there's no team willing to trade an A- QB.
All we may find will be C+ and somehow both AJ and Gus are B- and may become B+.

If you're a reggae fan...finish these songs:

1. "Babylon a listen from near and ______...."
2. "Shiloh we trod Rastafari _______."
3. "Lion trod the jungle without fear_______."
4. "In my house there's a picture on the wall_______."
5. "Give her what she want give her what ______."
:)

Well, we can screw up our secondary even more, and trade Sam Madison, an expirienced CB who although is burned and beat more often, and commits terrible penalties is still a good CB, for a mediocre QB like say Tim Hasslebeck, or Trent Dilfer or Chad Hutchinson or Josh McCown because those guys are REAL Super Bowl caliber QB's......

:rofl3:

beat often?

"more" often. Surely you can agree that The Sam Madison of 2000 would not be getting toasted like the Sam Madison of 2005. I'm not saying it happens every play, but it certainly does happen more often than it used to. Which is common with players who as they get older start to slip. Which is why even if by some crazy, insane, idiotic idea did want to trade Madison, i dont see how he has the value for being traded for any quality QB's or anyone other than over the hill scrubs or scrubs that haven't proven themselves.

Hear this you dolfans of poor faith, with our actual RB power there's no reason to worry about an excel QB, we must worry about defense.
Just look into Tampa's game and you will know what i mean. A regular running game opens the gate and leaves sometime to pass (even AJ made good throws). With Ronnie and Ricky in the field we don't need Manning to deal the game.
If you are strong in your defense, all you will need is a regular offense.
I'm not happy with our CBs (included Sam) but i will trust in Saban to handle this.

What good will Ricky and Ronnie do us 3rd and 12? Or when we're down by 14 points and HAVE to start passing, which at this point is very likely as our defense on paper doesn't look as good as past seasons and we'll still probably turn the ball over or make stupid errors which will allow other teams to score easier.

For years, Madison was one of the league's better locked down (one on one ) corners. His play has dropped significantly (but not his salary). Zero interceptions last year! With Saban's defensive emphasis on zone coverage and run support, Madison is really getting exposed. Sam hasn't tackled anyone yet on running plays and of the few big running plays against us during preseason, guess who they're running at? When Denver and their vaunted running game comes to town, we can only pray for 90 degree weather & 90% humidity. Obviously, Sam can still play and would be a great pickup for the right defense, but our quarterback situation is arguably the worst in the league. Rather than speculate, (ad nauseum) Feely or Frerotte. Nick this team needs a Quarterback!:D Madison has trade value. :yell: Let's do it, Nick.

Well, if Madison is as bad as your saying then about the only guy we might get is Chad Hutchinson, I guess...

Look...Madison is not a Saban CB, not physical enough...but his salary dictates that he stay, not to mention the obvious weakness at the CB position with or without him... Madison will be let go when his cap hit dictates that we can fiscally do it...bank on it...Besides, fixing one problem (assuming we could even get a half-azzed starter at QB) while causing another is stupid...

I still think he's good enough, and really if the pass rushers are doing there job, which with a line like ours shouldn't even be an issue,he'll be just fine, yeh he's going to get burned by the likes of T.O. and etc. but Thats where the safety comes in,or zones so on and so on,you dont trade away the best player you got at a position to better another position,it just creates another whole.

some people tend to forget on the huge cap hit we would take on trading madison, can someone sticky that info on the homepage for ever poster to see.
