    now confirmed

@AdamHBeasley: The Miami Dolphins have formally decided to move their training facility to Miami Gardens, source tells the Miami Herald. Could be in there for 2020 training camp.

@antwanstaley: Tom Garfinkel said the earliest the Dolphins will have their training camp ready is 2020.

@LuisDSung: @TomGarfinkel shows off the concept drawing for where the new training facility will be, these are just preliminary, no time line as of yet, Garfinkel says earliest would be 2020.

@MayorGimenez: At the @HardRockStadium #Showcase with the @miamidolphins. Excited to continue working with the team and the @CityofMiaGarden to keep moving #OurCounty forward. Behind me are first renderings of the Dolphins new training facility that’s moving back to #MiamiDade!

@LuisDSung: Garfinkel says that moving the facility is not a reflection of their relationship with Nova. Moving the facility will allow them to build a new state of the art facility where they'll have room for all the latest sports science technologies and make things more convenient.

it certainly does seem to lack the luxury hotels that surround most stadiums

Very smart. The franchise would have been unwilling to concede that mistake not too long ago.

Likewise within another half decade or so I suspect it will be ready to fix more recent unforced errors.

They will have an indoor practice field, from what I understand.

probably wont make much difference to many fans. Though looking at how hard Miami pushed for it, there must be significant tax dollars involved

That's a function of it being anywhere in Dade.

The whole thing should someday be out at Sawgrass (Broward/PB) where the fans are nowadays.

Hey, not all of Dade is a dump. Miami Gardens definitely is, though.

There were rumors years ago about a water park being built in that empty area by the stadium. Anyone know what happened with that?

Thankfully this move will remove the final stigma hanging over the franchise from the NS tenure....The Nick Saban Memorial Practice Bubble will be no more!

Finally, in 2020 (at the earliest) we will be totally cleansed of the debacle that was Nick Saban.

I'm just quoting what it says in UK's post a few posts up. Stated underneath the rendering.

"Dolphins new training camp facility. Will be equipped with climate control. They'll practice in the temperature of the opponent's field."

Doesn't appear they're are any details more than that.

Haha….I grew up there. It started becoming a dump in the mid to late 70's….

I used to live on 174th Street NW…I've never been to Hard Rock, but from the looks of the map, it looks like it's walking distance from my old house.

Same here. Moved to Murda Gardens from Jamaica when I was a little boy. Crestview Elementary. Grew up on the same street.

People call it a dump because of the violence, but I don't see a big difference in the community there vs. Pembroke Pines. Same "dump" -- robberies, home invasions, break ins, drug houses everywhere.

Grew up there too, 183rd and 47 about ten min drive from the stadium, From Miami Gardens Elementary all the way to MCC High. the area is def leaps better then what it was 10 years ago, hopefully this and all the rebuilding along 27th ave rejuvenates the area some more.

Yeah, nationwide, all the "bad" areas seem to be turning around as people from the burbs move back into the city…

I went to Scott Lake Elementary.

In theory this seems great, but for players it really doesn't mean anything except longer commute times.

Obviously for the Fins to be able to reel in camp visitors and get them to walk across the street for a stadium tour and purchase season tickets . . . . It's a no brainer.

Actually I think it means a lot of the players and coaches will live in Dade now, as opposed to Broward. That’s part of why it’s such a big get for Dade, the potential to have a bunch of rich dudes become new tax payers.

As crazy as it sounds . . .living in Broward is still arguably a better option for family living and commuting when trying to get to HRS.

Miramar probably becomes a more popular option instead of Davie now but the downtown Fort Lauderdale area (where Suh had a mansion) is less attractive from a living standpoint. These guys ain’t gonna stay anywhere in Miami Dade in a 10 mile radius from the stadium.

Maybe the married guys with families will stay in Broward, but the single dudes- if it were me, I’d have a place on South Beach or downtown. Doesn’t get any better if you’re a single dude with money.

    Would be a losing venture.
    a) there is nothing around
    b) outside the stadium area it is not a very good area.

Why? Broward county is next door and the distance from the Davie facility to the new facility is 20 min. It is basically just down the street. No need for anybody to move away from Broward County.

That was one of the things the Dade County officials were touting in one of the articles I read- that players and coaches would likely be moving to Dade. I think it was the Miami-Dade mayor.

That would be a pretty stupid reason. :laugh
Before that happens they have to pretty much first clean up the areas. I could not tell you any area close to the stadium which would be "fit" for a bunch of rich football players. I think the closest would be the Aventura area to the East but that is quite a hike through traffic. I think the mayor was just trying to justify any tax dollars which will be spend because, let's face it, the practice facility does nothing to the surrounding area except increase traffic in the offseason.

    Seems like the dream.

But Most of those guys under 25 (first contract) don’t have the cash flow to seriously live in those areas without blowing through money. Then factoring in that traffic . . . It just becomes a hassle and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are thoroughly educated on places to live and avoid on those initial deals (by team and agent). They’d much rather stay in a nice condo or house north, far less price tag, and have a designated driver or an Uber take them down to South Beach and even get a hotel for the weekend. Once you get in the league the partying really slows down and it’s not something these guys do on a every day basis. Even in the offseason.

Trust me there is plenty of tail all over South FL if you are athletic, got a nice car and have money. By the time u get that second contract you probably got one of em pregnant and family life begins.

Or you can be the richest guy in baseball like Giancarlo Stanton, be single as hell and build a penthouse right on North Bayshore Drive and live it up.

That’s the ultimate minority though, from a cash and options standpoint.
